We pretty much know Apple executives use far more expensive wired headphones because laptops including the recently announced MacBook Air support high-impedence headphones.

I will never understand why people feel the need to flood every discussion of AirPods Max with whinging about the price. They're very very nice and they cost a bit extra, like many many products in this world.
100%

The "these should be x (ridiculously low) amount of money" comments are so tiring and they always show up here, like clockwork.

I'm just curious about their popularity (or lack thereof). I obviously don't have any concrete data but I get the sense they are not selling very well (by Apple/AirPod standards). Still, I'm very happy with mine. Love the sound signature, build quality, device switching and best in class NC and transparency modes.

IMHO, $430 is worth it if you are looking for nice sounding wireless ANC headphones. It sounds good, works great with Apple devices. And spatial audio irreplaceable if you need/want it.

Sure, it's worth it if you're not aware of the competition and what they offer.

They're not bad headphones, but there are better options on the market. Sony and Bose are still much better offerings than this.

Sorry, it's true. Bandwidth and codec limitations are a thing.

Seems the only people I see whining about fidelity of wireless are those that don't know anything about signal processing.

You could make the same argument for wired headphones over certain PHYS layer... "Sorry but impedance and conductivity limitations are a thing"

See how silly that sounds?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wireless headphones and codecs of today. They have more than met the requirements they set out to achieve.

deep discounting is often a sign of clearing out inventory to make space for a newer version. is version 2 in the pipeline?
