I’ve just returned my Air pods pro. Utter garbage.

I got sucked into thinking they would be great but the reality (compared to my Bose QC35 over ear) is that the noise cancellation is not as good , transparency mode can make the sound just a little odd to listen to , neither mode works well when walking (strange feedback when moving) and worst of all , the sides you squeeze stopped working on mine and couldn’t switch modes anymore. (Even a firmware reset only temporarily fixed that before they stopped working again)

Quite possibly the worst apple product I’ve ever bought. Yet I see them everywhere??! A duff pair maybe or are they just a bit better than regular iPhone ear phones (which are terrible) so people just settle for that ?

gone back to just using over ear Bose QC35’s. Happy again lol.

This is the best deal you’ll get until Black Friday or the release of AirPods Pro 2. If you were on the fence, now’s the time.
This IS a great price. While it is tempting, since I’ve waited this long (two years) I might as well wait for the Fall announcements and see if any new ear gear launches, then revisit these.

My wife just gifted these to me and I’m shocked at just how good they are!

Spacial audio while watching movies is incredible!

I actually miss AirPods Pro’s after using Max for a while now, more comfortable. I don’t have any issues with sound quality or transparency mode on either tho.

Different uses cases...QC35's aren't great for sweaty workouts. NC of earbuds is never going to beat NC of over-ear headphones. I'm not completely sold on the Pros either as the regular Airpods have served me well but the NC would probably come in handy at times

Yup

I just paid full price a few weeks back. They are quite amazing. Transparancy mode is useful in an office (even though everyone is still hiding from ‘ronis at home, so there is nobody to listen to) and noise cancelation is very good.

The first pair failed in 5 days, but pair #2 are good so-far.

You could certainly do better with IEM or something more professional, but you lose the “magic” of the U1 chip. I honestly would have never considered a product of this type and price range unless Apple had made it more approachable and accessible to a consumer like me.

My favourite headphones I’ve ever had the pleasure to own and use.. but also one of the most unreliable and fragile tech products I’ve ever had (thank God for AppleCare+).

Such a mixed bag of emotions - I hope APP 2’s are just as great but more durable and less prone to allllll the various issues these have gone through.

Comments like this also cause me to continue to hold out. I’ve heard of various issues plaguing AirPods in general like one earpiece no longer charging, static issues, temporary loss of mic use. Nothing perfect but my Bose SoundSports we’re replaced for free after 3.5 years due to reduced battery life. That’s the kind of reliability I’m looking for. I’ll continue having a wire in between earpieces for now.

if you don’t have a pair yet.. hold out for version 2. Airpods Pro Rattlegate is very real. My left one starting cracking and rattling after about 9 months. There’s a thread about this issue. Many users are affected and even after having them replaced by another pair, after a while they new pair will display the same issue. It’s a frustrating reality for what is otherwise a great utility. But not worth the asking price imo.
