Amazon today introduced new low prices on the M1 MacBook Air for both 256GB and 512GB storage options. To start, you can get the 256GB model for $849.99, down from an original price of $999.00.

Only Silver and Gold are available at this price on Amazon. This sale marks a new all-time low price for Apple's 2020 M1 MacBook Air, providing the cheapest entry price into the lineup since it debuted last year.

Likewise, the 512GB version of the M1 MacBook Air is seeing a notable discount to $1,099.99, down from $1,249.00. This is a record low price for the notebook, and it's available in all colors.

They are basically giving it away at this point. I really need to publish my MBP M1 review here on Macrumors before the new revs are released. I suspect new revs are going to experience a similar cycle of discounts.

To those waiting on those 16 and 14 inch models, I would implore you to wait a bit if you can and grab deals that are gonna be showing up Amazon, BestBuy 6 months after. Trust me, if you have waited this long, your 2013, 2014 and 2015 can wait 6 months.

Back to $750 again on Best Buy student deals. And they define student rather generously (ahem, *parents*).

amazing deal! just got mine at Best Buy for $899, looks like I can go back and get the extra $50! makes me not mind the not as bright and contrasty screen!😄

Just curious, has anyone sold/traded in their 2020 Intel MBA? I'd be okay with losing ~$100-200 to upgrade to an M1 MBA if the value is right.

Edit: Nevermind. Trade-in value is $650 so I'd be losing closer to $1K... lol so sad

I know MacRumors does this to make money on being an Amazon Affiliate or whatever, but FYI Best Buy has matched these same prices on both Airs for anyone who wants to buy from them. Showing 849 and 1099 on BestBuy.com right now. $749 with Student Deal.

Edit: Goddamnit, I should prob read the replies first next time as I literally just repeated everything you guys already said, lol.

Yes, thus the "Back to $750 again" part. It's a screaming deal, and it's hard to imagine Apple allowing them to go any lower, even with the 14" and 16" models about to launch.
I guess what I was trying to express is that this is no big deal and not worth of another post because they run it so often. If they has dropped it to $700 then maybe.

Does anyone think holiday/Black Friday sales could beat the $749 student deal?
I’m tempted to wait, but my fear is that this is as low as it will go. Challenging to find even prior years this low.

I bought mine for 799$ with 0% sales tax and must say they're jolly good machines. Super cold to the touch and when you go back to your Intel MBP you feel the lag in the Intel system. Everything is slower. Apple need to be applauded for taking their first steps into ARM computing with the M1 chip.

I am not seeing the $750 student deal logged in with a student account. Is it gone for now?
I went and it was $899...I had to sign in to see the student discount and right after I signed in, the price went back to normal $999! Even after signing out, it's still now $999. They shouldn't do this in the middle of the day!!

But a few days ago we bought on the Apple EDU site and got a discount and free airpods so that was nice. We needed 16GB RAM and 512GB drive which Amazon and BB don't seem to carry. We also needed the school software pack.

they really are good machines I just got my first one, surprised how fast and cool it is! only complaint are the colors are not very contrast, is that normal?? Compared to the MBP....

Try changing/calibrating your color profile. The default one felt washed-out to me.

Really great computer. I tried looking for windows computers and when you account of keyboard, trackpad, screen, and body sturdiness there’s no comparison price wise. There’s something missing with windows computers at the 900 price point.
