Verizon today is discounting the Apple Pencil 2 to $103.99, down from $129.00. While not the best price we've ever seen, the new Verizon sale is just about a $5 difference from the lowest sale price offered by Amazon in the past.

It's also the best price currently available at a major Apple reseller online, with the next-best price coming in at $124.98 on Amazon. Apple Pencil 2 works with the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro (third generation and later), as well as the new iPad Air.

With the stylus, iPad owners can take notes, create art, and more. The second generation Apple Pencil can also magnetically attach and pair to the iPad Pro and new iPad Air. The first generation Apple Pencil isn't currently on sale.

One of Apples greatest creations. I wish I used it more. I love to draw with it, it would be great if it was integrated into other products and I could replace most of my writing instruments.

For people that have used both, is the performance increase to the second gen worth buying a new one?
You can’t use Apple Pencil 2 on iPads that use Apple Pencil 1 and vice a versa.

Is Apple Pencil 2 worth buying a newer iPad Pro or Air? Maybe for some people. I love my 2017 iPad Pro with Apple Pencil 1 and have no desire to upgrade at this time.

Would be great if Apple could figure out tactile feedback in version 3 based on the utensil (pencil/pen/brush) and the type of medium (canvas/textured paper). Only thing I dislike about the Apple Pencil on glass for art is it’s just too slippery

You can get the Logitech pen for a lot less than the Apple Pencil. Does the same stuff.

Apple really needs to get rid of the first gen Apple Pencil. The popsicle charging method is so unApple like. It’s awkward & asking for an accident that damages the pencil or port. I hope Apple eventually gives all the iPads(both Pro & Non Pro) the flat edged design so you can use the 2nd gen Apple Pencil on every iPad. That would be good.

The shouldn’t have called it Gen 2. Type 2 may have been better. They perform essentially the same, other than a side tap feature on the Gen 2. The difference is mostly on how they charge. Gen 1 is for lightning based iPads, and Gen 2 is for USB C. The USB C iPads have an inductive changer built in for the pencil.

For me (or my location), this discount isn’t really a discount because it has to be shipped, apparentl; there don’t seem to be any VZ stores qualified to to in-store pickup, at le ast not for this item. The $18 shipping takes it from $104 to $122, which is more than $119 at the edu portal for Apple. It claims it’s eligible for free shipping, but doesnt appear to believe itself. The qualifications it lusts are order <$49 (nope) or contains batteries (should qualify, but wants to charge me anyway).

[Update: apparently you can get the free shipping and there is one store within 25 miles, but you have to actually be at the shipping stage of the order to get to it. Even before that their order added $104 and $10 taxes with free shipping to get a $132 total! Second 840quadra’s comment about the horrible store]
