Classic. Making one display obsolete and now "coincidentally" lower the price of the newer models.

this display would be worth it if
  • you could airplay or wirelessly stream from a phone or device
  • wirelessly charge peripherals (mouse keyboard phone...)
  • had the ability to be VESA, height adjustable and angle adjustable

I would buy it if it was $500.

I mean... A13 Bionic? That has to be at least 3 years old by now.
Yeah, we need at least an M2 Ultra.
One in the computer, one in the monitor. One in the mouse, while we're at it.

Would've bought one instantly if it was 32". The XDR Pro is bit too expensive for my taste and needs.
Same here. If it was a 32" I'd part with something around $2500+/-. Couldn't see spending a lot more for a Mac Mini and the same display I've had for years with my 5k iMac. So instead I went way cheap and got a 32" LG 4K for $650. No it's a not "retina" but I get a ton of work done with reasonable satisfaction and my ROI feels about right. Of course everyone's got a different perspective on ROI/perceived value.

Yeah I ended up going with 32" Samsung M7 for ~$220 right after this was released to wait it out for a better option in the future. XDR Pro is so tempting but I don't do anything important enough on my computer to justify the cost :)

My Apple Thunderbolt Display which I bought years ago was $999

To be fair, $1349.99 is $3 and a gumball cheaper than your Thunderbolt display.

To be even more fair, salary has not increased like inflation so it is still more expensive per individual unless you’re in the C-suite or maybe a tech worker ;-)

You’d have done better to dispute the gumball…

I feel if they release a new 32, they will remove the actual XDR completely, you know they update it. But well the third party seller should down the price.
Yeah, release a 120Hz XDR and discontinue the current one.

Does anybody know if Apple retail stores still match prices? Once upon a time they used to match Amazon prices if Amazon itself was selling the stuff. Also Apple used to match Fry's Electronics prices.

I prefer shopping in person rather than mail order. Sadly, Fry's is no more. They often had good prices on Apple stuff that had been recently discontinued.

I hope Apple continues to make premium products like the Apple Studio Display. There are plenty of sub $500 black plastic displays for the haters to choose from.

I would buy an Apple display it if I could use 3 panes side by side with an acceptable size (e.g. websites are displayed at normal desktop size on 1/3 of the screen width or having a video calling window in the middle with 3 people on it with the chat open).

I’ve been working on a 38” Dell for over a year now and can say that having space for 3 panes is really speeding up my work.

Good to see $250 off on the display. But the price is still very high even after the discount.

No, but it makes sense to put a good chip in it because of the giant price, costing around twice as much as an iPhone with the same chip
I would agree if it had smart capabilities like the Samsung M8 for example.

But Apple decided to put iOS in the monitor... without giving any iOS features to the user.
