Apple would need to add some major improvement to warrant an upgrade. Fast processor means nothing when all the device does is stream content. Current 4k version can handle any and all Apple Arcade and TV games with no issues.

As long as you're willing to use the internal WIFI 5 instead of hardwiring, as the AppleTV HD only has a 100Mbps (10/100) Ethernet port. I'd rather have the 4K version with WIFI 6 and Gigabit Ethernet 1000Mbps (10/100/1000) speeds so I can keep it hardwired...even for streaming 720p and 1080p content. ..And as a bonus get Dolby Atmos and HomePod pairing.

Not a bad price at all. I wonder how long Apple will continue to support this model. I still use mine in the bedroom.
This is the question of the day. Ever since the introduction of the 4th Gen with A8 chip, tvOS has been supported on every model so far. But we are looking at A14 (according to rumors), then previous Gen (current right now) would be A12, then previous before that would be A10X (oddly, very close in performance to A12), and then even older than that, A8. And, it released in 2015. Seems like support for that could drop, yet Apple is currently still selling it.

So the question of the day is, will apple drop support for it in just a year or two, even though they are currently still selling it, or will tvOS be able to keep updating on it for years to come.

We have yet to see a device unable to update since the current iteration of tvOS, it’s an interesting situation for sure.

This is the same as the 2017 model with the A8 processor. I just replaced it because of how laggy it is with the new TVOS and apps that use the new OS functions (picture in picture, etc). The 2nd Gen 4K model with the A12 released in 2021 was $109 yesterday on Amazon. I was able to get a Amazon Warehouse returned ( and seemingly unused ) model for $85, although they seem to be sold out at that price.
Snagged one for the pergola tv.

I've had this one since 2015 release. It has served me nicely and gotten me seven years of service, but I wouldn't buy one today.

Frustrating the UK doesn't have better deals on at the moment. Just can't justify spending so much on an ATV just to use Fitness plus properly out home gym. Currently using Airplay to the existing TV but you don't get the stats and rings etc.
