Amazon has marked down Apple's 10.2-inch iPad to a new all-time low price today, with the 64GB Wi-Fi model available for $279.99, down from $329.00. You can get both the Silver and Space Gray at this price, with fastest delivery options estimated around September 1.

New design coming soon. I have this ipad as purely a consumption device and for centerstage facetime. No plans to upgrade to the new device for these 2 reasons alone.

isnt it always that price at Walmart?
"Always" is relative in this case. A year ago, it was $330, and finally went on sale for $300 in some circles (I got mine around Nov. 2021).

I recommend waiting until the next generation is out.
Any particular "killer features" you can suggest we hold out for? For $280, seems to be a steal for someone who's shopping more on price than "having the latest and greatest". Hell, iPod Touches were announced to be done with many months back, but having a larger screen and fairly good specs is an incredible value compared to those! And, at this price, the iPad is actually cheaper!

a steal isn't just about the lowest price, its about longevity, how many more years of support, ram, screen quality. They may not need the latest and greatest, they might be looking for value.

The killer feature is you might find that fashion iPad for a lower price than $280 when the new one is released. Maybe it will be $265. It was $20 dollars cheaper today and it all of a sudden became a great buy so maybe it will go down another $15.

For the most part, we can assume that you'll get all of those as well, but, it is good to bring it up explicitly from time to time as well.

Price going lower is another good reason, though I was curious to see if there were anything beyond "incremental improvements". Wait and see at this point.

If someone was planning to get the Apple Pencil and wanted to upgrade in the future, you would want your entry level iPad to have USB so your pencil investment would not be wasted. Or maybe you want to use a USB-C drive and don't want to deal with lighting cables. Not expecting any killer features.
