These 64gb models are easy to find. The Wi-Fi only 256 GB is the one most often out of stock. I grabbed a pink one, despite being my least preferred color and it is easily my most reached for iPad.

I agree, they should have discontinued all of the 64 gigs models a while ago and made 128 the new base model. Hard drives are so cheap, Apple always rakes us over the coals for a reasonable amount of storage. Not everyone wants everything in the cloud and the fees that come with that!
The issue is also with updates, I mean 64 gb can fill pretty fast, and when you have to update you might be out of space to do so.

Also think that 64 gb is bad publicity for Apple because the product can feel crippled way before it is time to change it.

Wish the cellular starlight model was on sale too. I bought that from Amazon and could ask them for some money back.

for real… a high end SSD costs $150 for 1tb, but if I want 1tb in an iPad, that’s $700 extra (with 8gb extra RAM to be fair.) 512gb is $300 extra.

there’s no way to get around the fact that consumers get absolutely shafted by apple’s storage upcharges. i just want an iPad with $150 worth of storage, but not pay $1799 minimum for the device.

I've been debating getting a 256GB in Purple (and even had one on order) but it's consistently been a two month wait from Apple. Just bonkers for the Mini, or any iPad in general.

Amazon has some in stock depending upon color/config combos

Apple is incentivized to not increase the base model storage so they can push people to iCloud Drive to make an ongoing subscription fee on every consumer. I for one will never pay an on going fees to Apple, but they are deliberately forcing users into this choice.

They will only increase the storage once they see that the media that people produce/consumer is drastically higher than that, so the incentive to still get higher iCloud subscription plans is still always there.

Every consumer is measured in Lifetime Value (LTV), not just one-off purchases anymore.

That's because it is ridiculous to still sell a 64 gb model.

Exactly.

Having a 64GB/missing a 128GB/256GGB is a very odd mix - I don't think Apple has ever done this with any successive model of hardware they make/made.

No more 64GB anything Apple _ unless its a base video memory allocation.

iPhones, iPads, should start at 128GB/256/512/1/2TB storage options. I'd also like to see ATV4K units get 64/128/256GB storage options.

The purple looks great. The pink actually looks silver most of the time and only looks pink when the light hits it. I got mine at a company with a light blue color and yellow star logo and it arrived within a few days. (I don't want to say their name). They have the Wi-Fi + Cellular 256GB Purple in stock right now with next week delivery.

This should have started at $399 for 128GB. Apple, while claiming to be carbon neutral, is making this device crippled from the get-go. Don't they think that people will be frustrated and will have to buy a new iPad when this fills up? This product's price structure is a pure example of how Apple has gotten greedy recently to increase share price.

Apple never increased prices for any given product before iPhone X. When iPhone X came out, they increased prices substantially and created a lower-end version of the product with the original price scheme. Paying as much for less.

Spot on..

When the 6 was first announced, the very first thing that put a sour taste in my mouth was a big price increase while also keeping the same base storage.

Just a double face slap

Amazing to me people are "amazed at Apple financials" -- they are ripping people off, routinely, across the product lines. It's very profitable to jack prices and reduce value/dollar spent.

At Best Buy used like new cellular+256gb = $679.99
Wouldn't do it.

Best Buy is open box policy on returning is good, however; the quality control of checking these products when they're returned initially from ‘Geek Squad’ is…..comical. They don’t even sometimes check if these products turn on, only for major damage. Obviously every store will vary, but I’ve read a lot of bad instances with purchasing returned products from Best Buy, especially with the likes of like smart TVs and tablets.

Use caution.

OMG I didn't knew, my AirPods Max were used ($100 off) and the new model of iPad Pro 2018 also were used ($150 off). Both of these items were bought only weeks or a few months after launching. No problems so far. But thanks for the heads up!

I got my iPad Mini 6 yesterday and I am not sure if I am keeping this. The “jelly scrolling” or whatever it is called is really bothering me. It’s literally giving me a headache.

It won't get better -- for those or us that notice it, or worse as in your case, it's a massive product design/component sourcing failure by Apple.

I was waiting on a new Mini for over a year, and to say I was bummed with the 6 release is selling it way short.
Massive disappointment
