My first AirPods were great but I lost one.
The second set my mother got me were pretty horrible.
Asymmetric charge and discharge. Sometimes one pod wouldn't charge at all.
I had constant unpairings and glitches.
It was a gift from Finger Hut so I question if it was a bootleg or not.
Certainly makes me reluctant to pay full price.

I bought the regular AirPod 2 for $99. Not having wireless charging is NOT a deal breaker. They charge quick enough for me.

They should. As long as they don't change the design. They fit perfectly (as opposed to the Pros that I can't keep in my ears).

That's not at all normal - I'd have had them checked out and repaired/replaced under warranty.

True - I've never had enough impetus to buy the wireless charging case for my old gen1 airpods. That said, when I replace them I'll get the wireless case just because it'll be pretty convenient to use the Qi pads I already have placed at various spots.

My gen1's are definitely getting long in the tooth but I have no complaints getting 3+ years out of them.. Waiting to see what next gen AirPods and AirPods Pro offer before replacing them..
