at that price such terrible jelly scrolling isn't acceptable
Agreed … although I’d say “at any price” (at least for an Apple product)

Maybe your Amazon shows something different? I see Space Gray and Starlight (64GB) at the sale price. The other configurations are a bit scattered, but it's definitely not just a traditional / new color scheme issue.Isn't it interesting that they are only offering the rainbow/pastel colored devices instead of silver, space grey, black, etc.? What a failed experiment the colors have been. I would have bought the 24 iMac if it was available in space grey or black.
depends whether you have brightness or not, and yeah i was talking in sunlight or under light, no matter the source. especially the fact that the ipad screen's more reflective (not ips related )I disagree about contrast, unless we’re talking in sunlight. E-ink contrast is very low, something like 1:10. Much lower than laser printer on white paper as well. It’s the reason e-ink is unusable for me (bad eyesight, I need high contrast) unless I crank up the backlight, in which case I may as well use an LCD.
look at the ipad mini 4 to 5 - mini 4 launched September 2015, ipad mini 5 launched March 2019Almost two years with no releases ... surely a Mini 7 will be released this spring or fall?
Hehe, turn off notifications and select more compelling books.
Rumors are stating late 2023.look at the ipad mini 4 to 5 - mini 4 launched September 2015, ipad mini 5 launched March 2019
I don't think this will be as long a gap but early 2024 looks likely at the moment
This is why I love my Kindles. Since buying one a couple of years ago, I've read more books than I did in at least a decade before having one.the problem with it being an e-reader is there are just too many other distractions on it..
I was just about to say the same thing! Those current UK prices are literally extortionate (I looked to see if there was a similar sale here, just out of curiosity)! Yes, I know we always have VAT to pay, but that's a double slap in the face from Apple to have jacked up the prices massively at some point, and for at least reasonably comparable sale reductions not also to be available in the UK.the 64GB version in the UK is more than the 256GB US $549 version so you are lucky. At the moment the Apple price is £569 ($690) and Amazon is £519 ($630) for 64GB
I used to feel the same about the colors until I picked up a discounted purple Mini at MicroCenter last year. I figured I'd just be sticking it in some sort of mono-chromatic case anyway, but I keep finding more and more reasons to pull it out of the case and one of the reasons is the color. It's very subtle and nicely done, not like the purple of the iMac or the phones.Isn't it interesting that they are only offering the rainbow/pastel colored devices instead of silver, space grey, black, etc.? What a failed experiment the colors have been. I would have bought the 24 iMac if it was available in space grey or black.
Well and also that staring into a bright LCD for extended periods is not great for you. The OLED on my iPhone is 50x more comfortable to read the screen in low light with the brightness turned all the way down. I'd really like to see Apple put OLED displays in the Pro, Air and Mini iPad without a colossal price hike, but I think it is clear Apple sees any major revision/upgrade as an excuse for a price hike. I want to be wrong.the problem with it being an e-reader is there are just too many other distractions on it..
$100 too expensive, or needs 128GB of storage as the base. Somehow I am making 64GB work...Rumors are stating late 2023.
I gave in and bought a 256GB Mini this past Black Friday, but I agree with many of the critiques here. $100 too expensive and the jelly scrolling, while not that big of a deal to me, is still noticeable. I always liked that the Mini had feature parity with the Air, but with the Air now being on an M1, I'm wondering if the Mini 7 will also move to an M-series chip.
Right. The 256GB though rarely drops to $549.99. I have actually never seen it cheaper then that for Wi-Fi version. It’s almost always $399 on Amazon. I bought my little brother one last May for his birthday from Amazon at $399.
Came out in September of 2021, so Fall of 2023 would be 2 years. iPad models frequently go 18 to 24 months, and I think Apple really let it languish from the 4th to 5th gen, but I suspect that they'll do a spec bump of some sort this year to keep it up to date at least. I'd really love to see it have FaceID, but I'm not holding my breath that it will come this year.Almost two years with no releases ... surely a Mini 7 will be released this spring or fall?

The same feelings here. I'm so glad I bought the mini 6 just before Apple ramped up the prices at the end of 2022I was just about to say the same thing! It makes me very glad that I bought my iPad mini back when I did: even then it seemed a fairly hefty price increase over my previous model, but there is literally no way that I would pay these new inflated prices (I'd have had to have bought a standard iPad instead and curse that I would have had to have chosen a model physically larger and less convenient than what I wanted)…
