Apple's M1 iMac (8-Core GPU, 256GB) has hit an all-time low price of $999.99 today on Amazon, down from $1,499.00. This sale has been coming and going since the weekend, so act fast if you're interested.

You can only get this sale in Pink as of writing, and delivery has been delayed into the middle of May. Still, you can lock in this massive $499 discount today ahead of those delayed delivery dates to be sure you get this all-time low price.

With this discount, the 8-Core/256GB model is now cheaper than the entry-level 7-Core/256GB model, which has only ever reached as low as $1,099.00 in previous sales. If you're on the hunt for more discounts, be sure to visit our Apple Deals roundup where we recap the best Apple-related bargains of the past week.

Update: This sale has expired, but there is a chance that it returns sometime soon. We'll be sure to update this article if it does come back.

Amazon must be aware of new devices coming soon so they are trying to clear out. I would buy this, but I just can't adopt a new Mac right now. I have too many devices as it is. And I am only gonna use it to comment on Macrumors!
Nah, Amazon just matches Costco and BestBuy whenever they have deals. This time they are matching Costco so maybe Costco got the ok/notice from Apple.

Quite possible, the 24" iMac is one that is close to its 2 year mark (April 20, 2021) and is due for a updated model since it uses the M1.

Hmmm. I wonder what this discount tells us.

If you are trying to imply that new ones are impending, there are these "deals" articles EVERY week... but not new Mac updates every year. For example, there was a "deals" offer on the new M2 MBpro just a week or so ago. I doubt the M3 version of that one is impending any time soon.

Else, my guess is that Amazon wants to move some aging inventory... or Apple does... and is doing it through Amazon to not have a discount beyond Apple norms directly associated with themselves.

That it is only one model and probably in the least-popular color, makes me think this was just designed to move some old stock.

That being said, I would not be surprised if an M2 iMac is announced at WWDC (either at the keynote or immediately afterwards via a Press Release).

It's quite clear that the M1 iMac does not sell well. No one is buying it. Apple didn't even bother updating it to M2 even though the Mini got an upgrade.
Or this could be just the usual Amazon metrics set a sell goal of so much qty and todays bargain is this config of 24" iMacs. Thats also normally what they do with too much stock.

It's clearly not going to be a big seller, but then no Mac desktop family has been for at least a decade, if not more. The iMac family is likely the best-selling Mac desktop, but it probably equals 10-15% of all Mac sales, at best.

So that Apple chooses not to update any of the desktop line annually should not be surprising.
