Watch starting at 11:56 on this video for 8 vs. 16GB Photoshop comparison:
I'm not regurgitating things I see on YouTube about RAM, I literally own 3 different configs of Apple Silicon:
8GB - MacBook Air M1 base spec
16GB - 16" MacBook Pro M1 Pro base spec
32GB - Apple Studio M1 Max base spec
That $300 M1 mini price was a close-out, they won’t be coming back. Thanks for the info and the YouTube video my friend.
My main use for my Mini is Photoshop, I’m no pro, don’t use it for much else other than some web browsing. So it looks like even a base M1 Mac Mini, compared to my 2012 Mini, would be like trading in an old Edsel for a brand new Porsche 911.
So that 299 price at Costco is a steal, no wonder they are sold out, I will be hoping to see them back in stock real soon as for the first time I’m getting a gpu error when I try to run PS. I think it’s finally too old to do the job anymore.

You might be confused.. this is not the base model, and it is suited for a wide range of casual use. That is specifically the configuration that NO ONE should buy. Why do they even try and sell this?
Wide range? Really? Even basic web search may be too taxing for it.You might be confused.. this is not the base model, and it is suited for a wide range of casual use.

24” iMac contrast ratio is 1,400:1 - better blacks…The iMacs are super nice, but after using the MBP screens I just can't bare to use 1000:1 contrast ratio on most IPS displays...it's just such a bummer in comparison.
If only everyone used a mac the same way. 4TB is overkill. Declutter.256GB is a joke
this x 1000. thousands of post here -- with peeps that actually own M1 base macs -- state the opposite. We have 3 in our house, 1 mini and 2 MBAs, zoom along all day, never a problem. They all hit the web better than my 2020 27" iMac with 3i7 and 128 GB ram.Written by someone who apparently has never used an M1 Mac. Thanks for the laugh!
