I can't see ever buying an AIO, the display will almost always outlive the computer forcing the consumer to throw the perfectly good display away (or preferably recycle). I would much rather have a mini and quality monitor, hopefully Apple will give us one this year, I cannot fathom why Apple doesn't at least release an iMac shell with no computer in it, just the monitor, speakers and ports.

$230 off the 8 Core from Apple's online refurb store are the best bet to save some cash when i'm sure the majority of the units are from the crooked stand issue when they were first released.

The iMac presents a nice, clean look on a desk (I've had two), but I appreciate the option of upgrading pieces at will, which is why I went M1 Mini/peripherals in 2020. Still, my desk looked less cluttered with an iMac on it than it does with my current setup.

$999 and you have a deal!

Come to think about it - no deal. Get a Mac mini and a gaming 144hz monitor and it's still cheaper than these deals. That display isn't anything worthwhile at all either.
So.... where did you find mac ports of games that would even bother with 144hz? :)

I would like to own one, but I don’t need to own one, but I do plan to buy the third gen iMac Pro when that launches in 2024. I have a MacBook Pro M1 hooked up to a 24 inch I got from work. But I honestly have to say, I hardly use it. My iPad Pro 2017, iPhone X and Apple Watch are my most used Apple devices.

$999 and I’m in!
That’s what my 1999 G3 iMac cost.
My 2007 iMac was $200 more, plus the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
By today’s standards, the iMac at any cost is a decent price.
A $499 mini and I’m all-in too!

I’m sure there is good reason for it but I would have preferred same color aluminum then that white plastic that reminds me of iMacs of yesterday.
The aluminum wouldn't be bad, either. The white bezel reminds me of the iMacs of yesterday too, which is why I like it. The new MBPs have a sort of retro vibe too, so they sort of tie in together. At least that's my view as to why they went that way. I could be totally wrong, of course!

Yeah. I wish Apple would make the iMac like my Dell AIO, which is designed to continue to function as a display even if the motherboard croaks or becomes obsolete. My 2008 iMac's display is still great and probably will outlast the rest of its hardware.

My Dell AIO has HDMI in/out.
I’m not sure if the ports work if the computer is not working.
I agree Apple needs to be more long term friendly.
Some don’t worry about the recycling issues.
The whole 2-year renewal program from cellular companies are to blame and nobody stops them.

Because apple hates people reuse their AIO as a nice monitor, these “deals” aren’t as attractive as it looks like. Also, 256GB for Mac? Use Mac exclusively for streaming? I mean, that’s one way to do it. But still niche.

The problem is even more acute here as prior imacs had some upgrade options. (I upgraded my 5k imac's SSD/HDD/Ram) These soldered guys are about as upgradeable as ipads or macbooks.
