Amazon has a deal on Apple's 2020 MacBook Air, offering the 512GB notebook for $1,199.00, down from $1,299.00. This $100 off discount is a match of the previous low price tracked for this model of the MacBook Air, and it remains the best sale on the notebook among the major Apple resellers online.

You can also find the 256GB model on sale at Amazon, priced at $899.99, down from $999.00. This sale is also available at B&H Photo, which is offering a few more colors at a discounted price, including Gold and Space Gray.

This model of the MacBook Air launched a few months ago in March and it has a new Magic Keyboard with scissor switches, faster processors for better CPU and GPU performance, and more storage space. The new Magic Keyboard features a refined scissor mechanism that's more reliable than the previous butterfly mechanism, and it offers up to 1mm of key travel for a stable key feel.

Does anyone who owns this model have cooling issues? I wouldn't want one if the fans are spinning up for basic browsing and YT.

I have been patiently waiting for over a month for WWDC before making any purchases. Either going to trade up my current iMac for the new one + a MBA or just go for the MBP. (still unsure which model)

Even better deal

you can find it on here for $875 to $1135

Not much of a savings to buy used.

$875 used vs $899 new for 8/256 model
$1135 used vs $1199 new for 8/512 model.

And you get a shorter warranty, and lose out on extended 1 yr warranty your credit card gives you when you buy new.

One other thing... why buy from Amazon when you can get both the 8/256 and 8/512 MBA's for the same price from Apple's education store *and* get free AirPods?

This might be the last year if Intel in the Air and considering the 2021 Air will be a Rev A with A Series, I would grab this while you can.
Why pick up garbage because it might be over soon? If you need Intel CPU on a mac, get any other model.

If you can wait, Costco will be selling 2020 MBA with i5 processor (not i3 like with $899 model), 8GB RAM, 256GB storage for $949.99 starting on June 24. And you get an extra 1 year warranty, so 2 years total.

So what are the MacBook Air/Pro/whatever specs needed these days for somebody who wants to learn to code for iOS and iPadOS?
In my opinion at minimum you should get the i5/512 GB MacBook Air, will have plenty of storage and quad-core CPU which you would want at a minimum for working in Xcode and compiling projects. If you have the extra $ to spend, the even better bet would be the 13" MBP with i7/16 GB RAM/512 GB storage for around $600 more (or $500 with sales). Besides the improved specs, has much improved cooling, display, speakers, ports.

There's still a bunch of 2020 MacBook Airs available at great prices in the US Apple Refurb Store. Examples: i5/16/256 $1099, i3/16/256 $1019, i5/8/512 $1099 ...
i5 with 16gb of ram and 256gb of storage for $1099 is tempting.

I have a 2013 MBA and am in the market for an upgrade. I would have grabbed myself a new 16GB/1TB MBA if not for the cooling issues. Such a shame.
