It's iPhone 13 launch day today, and anyone who hasn't pre-ordered the smartphone still has plenty of options to purchase the new iPhone. In this article we're highlighting a deal from Verizon-owned Visible Wireless, which is a low-cost alternative to the big name carriers.

If you purchase an iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, or iPhone 13 Pro Max at Visible, you can get a $200 virtual gift card to spend almost anywhere online and a free HomePod mini. You'll need to join Visible as a new customer and transfer your number from an eligible carrier to get this deal.

After completing three months of service payments on your iPhone 13, Visible will send an email with a code to redeem the virtual gift card. For the HomePod mini, you just need to purchase one of the four new iPhone 13 models, transfer your number, activate the new smartphone, and then you'll get an email with a code to redeem the free HomePod mini on Visible's store.

Visible offers monthly payment plan options, or you can pay the full price of the iPhone 13 up front. Although this deal doesn't include straight cash discounts on the new iPhones, getting about $300 worth in value with the purchase of the smartphone could be worth it for some shoppers, especially those who don't yet own a HomePod mini.

For offers on the iPhone 13 from other carriers, be sure to visit our roundup of deals from carriers and retailers on the new smartphones. If you're in the market for a new iPhone, we've begun tracking the latest carrier deals in our Best iPhone Deals guide. This includes discounts and offers from AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, and more.

Before anyone jumps on this, understand that Visible will direct all of your internet traffic through servers in one of two datacenters - Denver and New Jersey.

If you don’t live or use your phone near one of their datacenters you will get ping in the hundreds of milliseconds range and very unreliable speeds.

I didn't realize that they only had 2 datacenters, both of which are nowhere near where I live in FL. That explains a lot.

I'd had Visible in the past and my only complaint was the unreliable data. I could have full signal, with 5G even, and still either not be able to connect or have it be unbearably slow while other times it was perfectly fine and be within the range of what you'd expect. Even at $25/month for unlimited everything it wasn't worth the gamble.

iPhone 13 seems to be all about the deals. Apple doesn’t want a repeat of the iPhone XS and XR. Which suggest, they have a substantial upgrade in the works for the successor to the 13 and 2023.

I bought a 13 Pro Graphite! I got 0% financing with Affirm. Visible sells unlocked phones, so it's going to be pretty good deal in the long run. I'll probably cancel after the three months and go back to my old carrier. I'll be using that $200 towards a 14 inch MacBook Pro later this fall!

Interesting idea. Are all of the phones unlocked, or is there a request involved? If already unlocked, couldn't you just get it, pull the SIM and use your current carrier SIM while paying for the 3 months (not using the Visible service)? This would be for anyone with an existing plan that they don't want to modify.

You might want to double check that - they started locking their phones a while back.

Blah blah blah. You're on mobile looking for cheap deals. If you want low pings and 4 9s of service on mobile go premium. Been using visible for a year or two with no real issues.

fyi they user verizon

So I spoke to a couple of people at Visible and they told me that the phones would be locked for 60 days, after which they would be automatically unlocked. Apperenlty they started that today.

I’m going with Visible but they kind of screwed the pooch here.

1. They didn’t offer pre-orders
2. Their launch day offerings were very weak. They had no 1TB phones available
3. They do not offer this promotion to customer who switch to Visible..you have to buy through them.
4. they do offer their $100 gift card ‘switcher’ promotion to new customers who port their number to Visible

If Visible offered Pre-Orders, I would have been qualified for their $200+HomePod deal but I’m glad I didn’t wait because they didn’t have the phone I wanted anyway.

Anyone switch to Visible with an unlocked iPhone get them to add the promotion? If so, let me know so I can follow in your foot steps.

I have only good things to say about Visible as a carrier. If you join the reddit party pay group, it comes to $25/mo, no contract, for unlimited everything (including using your phone as a hotspot), and 5G. And they use Verizon's towers, so I've never had an issue with service. Not sure why more people haven't switched, it's an insanely good deal.

Visible started locking their phones for 60 days several months back. This isn't something new they started doing today.

Maybe it's because users are de-prioritized and the high latency.

I tested them out over the summer for 2 months (took advantage of $15/mo promo with $100 Mastercard) and while I generally had no problem with the service, the latency, speed, and signal (usually 2 sometimes 3 bars) wasn't that good. I was mainly using the service to stream music (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) while running and often times I'd get speeds of < 2MB (did speed tests in different areas of my runs) and latency of around 200ms (I don't think it was ever below 100ms).

Visible users also don't get roaming.

I'm testing Mint Mobile now and I get much better signal, latency, and speed.

Does anyone in WNY have Visible?

Truth be told, I've had Visible on an old iPhone 6, that I’ve used as a hotspot for my camper in the middle of the woods. At 2 bars of LTE, I’ve used it for VPN and Remote Desktop for work for 8 hour stints, a few days a month.

I have no idea how my current iPhone 11 would fare on Visible in my hometown/city. But, I only get 1 bar of Verizon in my living room as it stands. At least this would be cheaper for the same unreliability. 😹

Looking to get an iPhone 13 mini, and have kind of wanted a HomePod mini…. And the 200$ could help towards a required MacBook replacement, after water damage killed my only computer. Not a bad deal, if I can use that $200 at Apple…
