Not true. People have been burned directly buying from Amazon.
Yeah I've read the articles, seen some posts, my N=1 experience says otherwise. Given the amount of sales vs claimed or verified issues, I'll take those odds, if it happens just return it.

Months ago I had issues with my first set purchased from Best Buy. One ear bud serial number did not match the package (a2618). Had issues detecting it. Returned and got another set with all matching serial numbers and no issues to report. Something to consider, even from legitimate third party sellers. Apple suprisingly uses this number in their guide but can't seem to find much info on whether it is genuine or not.

But the real question is… do the tips collect as much earwax by volume as gen 1? Otherwise, pass.
I can’t wear the pros. The silicone tips don’t fit, make me sweat, (in my ears, eeeewwww), and eventually all silicone makes me break out. I have to limit my watch wearing for the older one that has a silicone strap on it. The Leather strap (thanks, Hanks Leather!) doesn’t cause me any such trouble.

That's what it appears. He did not divulge any specifics but said a new model was coming and implied soon, which is why they are clearing inventory.
Hmm, was about to buy the Airpods Pro 2 (in EU the prices have dropped a bit too) but I think I´ll wait and see what the new model (probably revision) is up to.

That's a function of the ears more than the hardware. If you look over in-ear earbuds, the tips are all very similar. I have a hunch earwax buildup will the the same across pretty much any brand.

I have genuine AirPods Pro and I picked up knock-offs for less than $20. Amazingly, the phone treats them the same as the real ones. Opening the case invokes the little pop-up screen and everything. The downside is they sound like total crap. Even for $20 they sound like crap.
I recently experienced this through a Mercari seller. The pop-up looks genuine, but the serial number within the iPhone menu says the warranty is expired. The serial number on the outside of the box was different and invalid. Needless to say, I quickly returned them.

They did indeed sound quite bad.

I doubt the prices are due to that, the old pros typically stuck around the price point of ~$180-$200 for the past couple years, but I wouldnt be surprised if he's also seeing maybe the initial stocking updates for the USBC cased version and is conflating that with the current price and assuming something much bigger showing up than a case update.

Ya think? 🤡 I thought there was an earwax injector underneath the grill of the earbud. I was in the process of creating an app in Xcode to override the setting to high. My billion dollar idea destroyed in 3 sentences.

You're the one who asked if APM 2 "collect as much earwax" my dude. I was just taking this silly question at face value, didn't ask for a bunch of smart assery, thanks.
