Apple's M1 iMac (8-Core GPU, 256GB) has returned to its all-time low price of $1,299.99 in select colors on Amazon, down from $1,499.00. You can get this sale in Yellow, Purple, Orange, Pink, and Green, and most are available to ship soon from Amazon.

We last saw this deal appear in January, making today's sale only the second time in 2023 that we've tracked this record low price on the M1 iMac. Select colors, like Orange, can be delivered as soon as February 8 to most residences in the United States.

For more storage, Amazon also has the M1 iMac (8-Core GPU, 512GB) for $1,499.99, down from $1,699.00. This is another match for an all-time low price on the M1 iMac, and it's available in two colors: Green and Pink.

Head to our full Deals Roundup to get caught up with all of the latest deals and discounts that we've been tracking over the past week.

A bit nuts to get this when virtually anybody can get an M2 Mac mini for $499 and a Dell 27-inch 4K monitor for $299. For the iMac, you're basically paying $800 for aesthetics of an AIO machine.
The iMac does have the better screen resolution, which works better under macOS than 4K (and you get the mediocre builtin camera). Whether that’s worth $800 is a different question.

$1500 gets you 8GB of RAM. Deal!

Well it's down to $1,300 now so you might want to grab two!

Well, the iMac sure is pretty, but, overall I agree with you. The value prop of the iMac has always been questionable to me. I bought a couple of them back in the day - the iLamp G4 and one of the flat-panel Intels. I always hated having to part with the display when my needs outgrew the machine, so I switched to Mac mini plus a used Thunderbolt Display and never looked back.

I don't completely disagree with you, but the *major* caveat there is that a $299 Dell 4K monitor would not be anywhere close to as good as the iMac's panel.

Interesting that it’s just the macs in those “fun” colors on sale, like there’s an excess supply. Almost seems like people prefer computers suited up in something a little more serio… I mean “boring.”

It's still too much for that wimpy-assed 23.5 inch iMac (for which I wouldn't pay a$1 for) - Bring back the 27"

I think it's more of iMac's value proposition and not the colors.

Seems like this price is coming up for other 512 GB models in other other colors.

That's a worse monitor -- fewer pixels spread out over more space. If you want something comparable to the 4.5K one in the iMac, you're not going to get it for $299.

According to the Mac Studio cultists, there's plenty of 5K display around. And if you want to go cheaper, any 4K display will do just as good and you won't notice the difference. /s

I have one and it’s the best computer I’ve ever owned. I did upgrade the ram though to 16GB. Base storage

screen is great and its a very good computer for teams meetings. I run parallels on it and it works as smooth as my new windows pc from work

I would recommend them, but I do think they need the chip upgrade

I'm in when it gets the M2!

Being pretty is a legitimately large part of that value proposition... iMacs are everywhere as point-of-sale machines. As a customer, getting a coffee? I'm looking at the back of an iMac when I pay. Checking in for my haircut? Back of an iMac.

The "two boxes and lots of wires" of a Mini + whatever display (even Apple) just doesn't present the same look to customers from the back...

Agree with that too. I had and still have an iLamp G4 and will never get rid of it because it was such a funky little computer - it's now an Art Piece! It was my very first Mac and the reason I am here today. It was also the first computer that my wife let me take out of the computer room - I had it hooked up to the stereo and ripped all my CDs to it. Aaaah... nostalgia - those were the days!

Back on topic... As much as the iMac looks good, what I really meant was that if someone is looking for a decent general purpose computing device, then the cost of entry is much lower with a Mac mini than an iMac.

It always surprises me why Apple who claims to care for the environment has not designed the AppleSilicon iMac with a replaceable module for its main component. The display, camera, speakers and if I/O was decent like the M2 Pro MacMini lasts much longer than the CPU/GPU components this could have accommodate a small module the size of an external SSD case and just remove it from the bottom grill. Shipping would be cheaper reducing cost and recycling of old components also just as easy. At this point people are just disposing a perfectly good AIO with outdated main components every 5+ years depending on the customer and their usage. MacMini is another device along with AppleTV and the MacBook Air.

I had a 17" iLamp that I unfortunately sold to upgrade to a blander machine in the mid 2000's. I wish I hadn't, that was a great Mac.

At a minimum, I really wish they'd come up with a way to make them usable as monitors for a second usage cycle. I'm loving mine now, but if the past is any guide it'll "slow down"* in a few years and I'll be looking for something newer. Sure would be handy to be able to plug another computer into the back of this nice 4.5K display and keep using it.

* i.e. get bogged down by more demanding OS and other software
