Only the Space Gray version of the tablet is available at this price. For those who are unaware, prominent Apple reseller MacMall recently consolidated its sales under its sibling TigerDirect brand. The site provides solid discounts on iPads, Macs, Apple TVs, and other Apple products.

Apple updated the iPad mini line in March of 2019 with the iPad mini 5. The tablet includes Touch ID for biometric authentication, a headphone jack, a Lightning charging port, and Apple's A12 Bionic chip. Thanks to these internal upgrades, the iPad mini 5 is three times faster than the previous generation and has a 10 hour battery life.

The buy an iPad and get AirPod back to school promotion excludes the iPad mini 5.
The cheapest iPad for that promotion is the 64GB iPad Air Wi-Fi for $479.
It is little tough to choose between these 2 with the price.

Can’t believe I’m gonna relay this, as much as I hate Comcast, but for Xfinity Mobile customers they have the iPad mini 5 for $492.99 with a $360 promo of bill credits over 24 months. Now, that requires customers to keep the iPad on their cell plan for 24 months and incur a $10/month “connection” fee, so the promo effectively becomes $120 total. Still, much less at ~$380 than this deal, tho tied to Comcast service for 2 years. For customers already on a Shared Plan, it might not really impact their usage that much while bringing near-ubiquitous connectivity.
