Amazon today has Apple's 2020 64GB Wi-Fi iPad Air for $539.00, from $599.00. This sale is available in Green and Sky Blue, but Green has the faster shipping options with delivery as soon as this Friday for United States residences.

Besides the same deal appearing earlier in January, we haven't seen many discounts on the iPad Air line since around August and September 2021. Compared to previous sales, today's offer is a second-best price and so far the best deal we've tracked in 2022.

There are a few other noteworthy iPad deals happening on Amazon this week. You can get the 10.2-inch iPad (256GB Wi-Fi) for $449.00, down from $479.00. The iPad mini 6 (64GB cellular) is on sale for $629.00, down from $649.00. Both of these sales are lowest-ever prices.

For even more iPad deals, head to our full Best Deals guide for iPad. In that guide we track the best discounts online for iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro.

Is this a good deal for a 2 year old machine whose replacement is rumored to be imminent?

The spring event is April. If you can wait the following might be desirable. As the Mini 6 was updated with the below features.
  • A15 Processor
  • 4 GB RAM up from 3 GB RAM
  • Front 12MP Ultrawide FaceTime camera that enables the smart Center Stage panning that keeps you in the frame on a video call.
  • Back camera include the quad-LED True Tone flash along with 1080p video recording in 25 fps and 30 fps, in addition to 60 fps.
  • 5G cellular option
The 18 month old A14 based Air is not a bad choice if you need one now.

… is Perfectly fine. The performance on this iPad is excellent.
I'm not saying it's not.
But 4GB is the minimum RAM now for a good performance. All iPhone 14 are supposed to come with 6GB in September.
The iPad Air is too expensive to come with only 4GB.
It's better to wait for a 6GB RAM model.

A small discount is better than no discount, but I also advise waiting for the supposed refresh in April.

I almost upgraded my Air 4 to the Mini 6 for all its updates, but decided it's better to wait to see what else comes out this year or next year.

My Air 4 has served me well since launch, but I wouldn't pick one up brand new rightnow unless you gotta have it ASAP.

Personally, still running with my iPad Air Rev 1! Sure it’s slow at times and doesn’t have all the latest features, but it works perfectly well still.

Well enough to watch BBC iPlayer and despair at the UK PMs downfall over a birthday cake and bring your own drinks, while Putin sets up the next Cuban missile crisis.

Still works perfectly to Bluetooth my Spotify to my OG HomePods and B&O A2 Bluetooth speakers (almost as good as the HomePods for their size by the way).

I’m waiting for an 11 iPad Pro with mini-LED if we all survive that long!

Bit cross-threaded I know, but my point is that it does not really matter which gen you buy, an iPad will be a best in class device for many years to come!

Walmart has 11 inch iPad Pro on sale for $749 down from 799$ also Walmart has had this exact sale on iPad Air for $539 since Christmas. Amazon runs out of stock and Walmart has the same prices. This isn’t much of a deal

I can't justify spending $800+ on a device to replace my Air 2 that's mainly going to be used for media consumption.
I'll take a discounted 256GB Air 4 in a heartbeat...even this close to Air 5. So it won't have the newest chip. It'll do what I need and I'll have the comfort of knowing I'll get many years out of it.

I would wait until the iPad Air 5 is announced and then get in the queue for that one straightaway or hope there’s enough back stock on the iPad Air 4 to elicit some really good deals. $60 USD off is just not enough to warrant a look at all. Just my 2¢.

I got one for $529 last March from MicroCenter, so $539 almost a year later doesn't sound very good.

Buying even a 1st Gen refurb 11" Pro is a better option that this machine at ANY time (when they're in stock).

You get FaceID, ProMotion, and a (very) slightly bigger screen, same amount of RAM, a new case, and a new battery for less than the cost of an Air.

If you go refurb 2nd Gen you're in an even better position for a few dollars more, as you get double the storage and 2GB more RAM, and the updated cameras and LIDAR.
