Apple's HomePod has returned to the price of $199.99 today at Best Buy. This popular sale is a solid $99 discount on the original $299.00 price of the HomePod, and it's one that Best Buy has offered a few times throughout 2020.

This price also represents one of the lowest we've ever tracked for a new HomePod. Best Buy offers free next-day delivery for select qualifying items in the United States, and there are also options to pick up devices at a local store. Both the White and Space Gray color options are on sale at Best Buy.

Beware before buying. A lot of them ends up making farting noises and crashing... including mine.

Out of curiosity, there was news back in July that HomePod would work with Spotify. Has the HomePod become compatible yet? I just can't see buying a device that works with only one service (and one that I don't subscribe to).

When it comes to Home Audio, I am firmly in the SONOS camp even though I am an Apple Music subscriber. They have a variety of speakers and I can literally use any music service I want to with them and often do.

Seeing this deal pop up every few weeks in US really makes one sad living in Europe and never hearing of deals like this

And the IKEA SYMFONISK offers a SONOS speaker for $100 if you're looking for a low cost entry to the SONOS family.

I bought two this summer, last time they had this sale. I'm a Spotify and Sirius user, and neither of those work yet. It's tremendously frustrating having to use AirPlay when you know the doggone thing is fully capable to do the same things with Siri. So in short, the answer is no.

Counting the days til iOS 14...

This isn't news. This is the same price Best Buy always sells them. If this is an advertisement it should be labeled as such.

It's not - they were $299.99 when I was there over the weekend to buy an iPad. I was going to pick one up at $199 but since they weren't on sale I didn't.

I'd really like to pick one up, but iPhones, and Apple Watches are due to be replaced in my household... So, hopefully there is a "SE" version in the works.

I had same issue on my Tesla. I just took it out of fart mode and the sound went away.

I’d like to get a second but with the wife asking ‘are you deaf?’ using only one, kinda pointless. :(

I can't comment on Siri's listening other than to say she usually seems to hear us (but we don't ask much of her) - but I will say that a second HomePod provides for a very nice stereo listening experience. After setting up 2 in the dining room, I want 2 in the living room, 2 in the office, 2 "floaters" for the deck and so on. Stereo-linked Homepods is a notable upgrade and the wife and I give it 2 thumbs up.

Good price for a bad product. They missed the home assistant market.

At 299, it's not a great value - but at 199, it definitely is. The sound from one is really nice, but when you pair two for stereo, it's worlds better than nice. As for home assistant purposes, I'm not super impressed with Alexa either. None of the home assistant products blow me away, which might be relevant if that mattered in my household (it does not). Decent audio in our dining room definitely does matter and Homepod capably fits that need well.

Yep for sound only it might be ok. I use/prefer SONOS myself. As an assistant Apple missed the market entirely. Alexia is superior to Apple here. Of course these are my opinions.

Unfortunately, unlike Tesla, HomePod doesn't offer the option to get out of farting mode. Once your HomePod starts doing this, you're only hope is to get a costly replacement from Apple.

I have two HomePods acting as a stereo pair for music and when watching movies using AppleTV in the bedroom. Not the same as the experience when watching movies in my full blown home theater but pretty darn close and in a far smaller package and since I bought my HomePods on sale, a much lower price. The only drawback is I can't get the sound output from the TV to the HomePods when watching over the air content. But that isn't a big deal for most of the over the air content anyway (news, etc.).
