Alongside the third-generation AirPods, Apple this week also introduced a minor update for the AirPods Pro to add MagSafe support to the charging case. MagSafe makes for easier alignment of the AirPods Pro case on compatible magnetic chargers and allows it to stick on angled chargers.

The updated AirPods Pro carry the same $249 price tag as the previous version and have no other changes beyond the case, but Amazon is already discounting the new model down to $219.99, a savings of $29. The new AirPods Pro are in stock with delivery available next week.

The discounted price still marks a $23 premium over the original version at the moment, with Amazon currently pricing the non-MagSafe version at $197.00. We even saw them go as low as $169.00 around Black Friday last year, so if MagSafe isn't a necessity for you, you may still want to shop around for a good deal on the older ones.

AirPods and AirPods Pro make for popular gifts and we commonly see discounted pricing on them, especially leading into the holiday shopping season, so we're likely to see more deals on these in the coming weeks, but it's a good sign for supplies that we're already seeing significant discounts right at launch.

We track sales for every model of the AirPods in our Best AirPods Deals guide, so be sure to bookmark that page while you shop around for the wireless headphones.

Anyone know if we're able to buy the updated MagSafe case alone?
Looks like the only way to get the updated MagSafe case for the AirPods Pro is to buy a whole new set. The only case Apple sells alone is for the 1st-2nd gen AirPods.

It’s probably not worth buying on its own, if your existing one is working. You can change the current case on Magsafe. This seems to just add the alignment magnets to snap it into place.

The AirPods Pro case has always worked on the MagSafe puck. All you’re getting is magnets to align. No need to buy unless you have a real need.

I've had that happen a few times a number of months ago. I restarted my devices, and forgot the buds, and went through the pairing dance again. It generally worked first time. I had to do it a couple of times with my old iPad Air to get the steps right, apparently, and it eventually worked. It's pretty frustrating. They taught all that 'easy to pair' technology, and sometimes it just fails...

Curious, does it now charge from a MagSafe enabled phone or only the puck? Might be worth it if it can pull charge from the phone finally.

The case charges from a Ci charger and the MagSafe puck is a Qi charger. This newer version just adds some magnets to the case to ensure that it aligns properly with the Magsafe puck. It’s not a dramatic change and not worth buying a new case for, but it is a nice feature added if you are already getting Airpods Pro
