M1 Ultra/64GB RAM/1TB SSD Mac Studio for $3,699.00,

If the PC industry hadn't consolidated and instead kept the same price/performance trajectory 1995-2010, specs like that would be $1000. Maybe even less.

Under Oligopoly, regular people suffer.
Oh how I suffer! Maxed out computing power is a human right!

At this point I don't really feel like this is much of a discount, M2 Max is $200 more for a 20% gain. Also Costco had the base model M1 Max Studio for $1499 two weeks ago, so this isn't the lowest price...
My local Costco still had that deal a couple of days ago.

Costco Mac deals are AFIK always base models. That does not matter with headphones, etc., but for Macs it likely places a buyer at lower RAM levels than are most appropriate. Beware.
They have the deals on the higher end models too; you just have to get them online because they only carry the base models in-store.

Argos in the UK are currently offering the M1 Max at £500 off and the M1 Ultra at £1000 off.

Tempted to go for the Max version as don’t think the extra for the M2 Max would realistically be needed by me.

Going from a 2015 MacBook Pro to the M1 Max would be an insane enough leap in itself I’d expect.
