MacRumors readers have a chance to save on the just-released 27-inch iMac this week at Expercom, thanks to our partnership with the retailer. You can save up to $141 during this event, with prices starting at $1,706.46 for the 256GB iMac and increasing from there.

Note: MacRumors is an affiliate partner with some of these vendors. When you click a link and make a purchase, we may receive a small payment, which helps us keep the site running.

To get the deal, browse any of the iMac models listed in this article and add them to your cart. At the checkout screen, enter the coupon code "macrumors" to see the discount prices. The three models in the list below represent Apple's base configurations, but you can also opt for increased memory and bundle in AppleCare+ when selecting an iMac.

Shoppers should note the delayed shipping estimates for these new iMac models. When purchasing this week, you'll see a 10-19 day delivery estimate via ground shipping. This is slower than Apple's offering, which typically offers a delivery date within a week of placing an order.

Florida is in a tax free weekend for certain 'back to school' items. Computers are tax free up to $1000 during this period. Apple is also adhering to the FL tax free weekend. I'm sure other states have similar times set up as well.

"Each state is different. So check for qualifying products where you live. The tax holiday savings on your order will be adjusted in accordance with the state holiday and may not appear at time of purchase. "

Hmm appears Apples website is not adhering to it - went all the way to checkout, in the educational store, and its still charging the full tax.
The fine print states the tax will be removed from the invoice. So it hopefully will (not) show up after it’s bought.

If I would be spending this kinda money, I am going the installment route instead. So, when I do upgrade it’s gonna be purchased using my Apple Card.

It bothers me that Apple products are being discounted when they are new to the market. I understand that the world and the economy are falling apart. It's sad that even Apple sellers are taking a hit.

If you want to get a similar discount all you have to do is buy it as a Education or even Government discount. They don't ask for proof.

But don't you still have to claim the untaxed purchase on your 2020 taxes? I do where I live.

Well.. yes.. but in 15+ years, I nor anyone I know ever has.

Can anyone confirm whether these macs can be downgraded to Mojave?

Most likely not, usually new Macs will not work on the previous version due to lack of drivers for the specific new CPU or GPU, and in this case the T2 chip will also probably prevent that.

YouTube is inundated with reviews of it. It comes across desperate to be honest. It’s an iMac with upgraded internals some of which is long overdue and happens to likely be the last Intel Mac.

Use the discount code "APPLEINSIDER" to get even more money off. Not promoting that site, just the discount code. I saved over $200 on my 2020 27" iMac purchase and no sales tax. :) Another way to save money is by purchasing through Apple's education store:

Apple does not require verification that you are actually a student. Apple will charge sales tax, however, but get free airpods.
