iPad Pro updates this fall for sure, considering the Mini 5 and Air 3 received the A12.

Not the same processor speed at all. Pro is much faster, with A12X.

I have no idea how can they (or any other company) afford to sell them cheaper? Don't they lose money? Do they get it cheaper from Apple?

Im holding off on a new iPad Pro for this reason but I’ve heard conflicting word on whether there will be an upgrade this year.

Minor speed and performance increase, not a deal breaker for many users and almost unnoticeable on a daily usage basis. Reminds me of the iPad Pro 2nd Gen A10X versus the A11 processor, the A10X had an advantage over the A10, however not the A11.

An the A12 is no slouch of a processor, so the question one must ask is iOS does not utilize the X variant or even the regular A series power to its fullest, until that happens whatever chip is in the iPhone is capable to run iPad or iPad Pro apps. Give it 3-4GB RAM and a user will have 5 or more years of usage, the battery will probably not hold a decent charge for long depending on usage.

Apple will fix the bending issue, the pro is just not worth it until an upgrade. Would be nice if a mini Pro style version was offered, that would be a solid product.

Given that I own both the iPhone XS Max and the iPad Pro 11", I can tell you for sure the difference is not minor.

Doubtful, Micro Center had this same discount on day one, which is when / where I got my iPad Pro 11” 256gb.

Subjective and depends on if the app being used takes advantage of the X specific design. I am skeptical that routine apps such as safari, mail, etc open that much faster between devices. Sometimes the extra RAM and ProMotion makes one believe routine apps are faster on my psychological expensive device.

Its how our economy works. Retailers dont pay $799 for a 64GB 11 inch IPad. They dont even pay their sale price of $674. Apple being a premium product, most retailers dont get products for much less then retail cost. But they do get it them cheaper. If your not Apple and your not selling anything other the Apple products, you probably couldnt survive. But Apple drives a lot of sales in other areas so its worth it.
