Military discount offers the best price (16" Stock $2159 Mil vs $2199 Edu). Might be a few dollars but when you are looking to save, every dollar counts. Now, if I can only get this tax free from my local Exchange store.

UPDATE: <blushes>

My troubles were due to my browsers, both Safari and Firefox, apparently. When I tried my laptop, it accepted my password, rather than rejecting it out of hand. They sent an email yesterday, saying that my new MacBook "will be shipped", but no shipping ID, so I'm guessing it takes them several days to ship something? Anyway, I need to wipe my cookies and flush my DNS cache, though this is the their website is the ONLY site affected. So I can access the website from my laptop, only the battery on my 2015 MacBook Pro is on it's last legs. Hopefully it'll live through any further attempts.

Old Message:

Despite the other comments (and their charging my card), I’m not convinced this is a legitimate company. I created multiple accounts trying to log in. Despite repeated attempts to reset my password, I’ve yet been able to log in. They also don’t answer the phone or even accept messages (it looks like there isn’t a message service, despite their suggesting you use it.) Aside from an invoice for my purchase, I’ve gotten zero updates, messages or replies.

I’m hoping I didn’t just piss away $3,000, but there’s no way for me to validate or check my order. Legitimate companies don’t operate this way. I’m now sorry I listened to the MacForum article. I should have known not to order from anyone besides Apple or Amazon (who’s an authorized Apple reseller).

Any update on your situation? I noticed you posted on Sunday. Maybe they are just closed on Sundays or even the entire weekend? They are located in Utah...

I've seen other posts that claim excellent customer service from Expercom, but one always has to wonder whether positive (and negative) posts about a company are "real" customers or not...

I'm thinking of buying from them and would love to hear whether things have improved for you.

As a data point, in case others ordered and are waiting...

Ordered from Expercom on the day of announcement (2.3Ghz/32GB/5500M 8GB/1 TB) and just received an "order processed" email on 11.20 (they had not previously charged my card). The email simply indicated that the order will be shipped shortly.

Crossing my fingers because this was my first time ordering other than from Apple directly. It was hard to resist the almost $450 discount (no sales tax for FL helped) in my instance though.

Given what they are quoting for lead time, I really wasn't expecting to receive it this week or next, but who knows. I assume the card charge is some sort of positive sign.

I ordered the same day with the same config except the 2.4GHz processor and am still waiting. I called yesterday and they said expect it to ship the 25th / 26th.

Thanks for the info on anticipated shipping. Did you get the "order processed" email?

Since they're ordering them directly from Apple, the ship times should be similar to any other Apple product. While fast, they are coming from China, after all. But they charge your card when they first contract with Apple to build it, not when Apple ships the final product. The time from when they charged my card and they told it was 'on it's way' was a few days.

Thanks but that doesn't seem to be how this order is working at least. As I mentioned, I received the "order processed" email this morning AND I just now received my shipping notice. I selected FedEx 2-day (just as another data point). I have a tracking number but it is not active at FedEx yet, unsurprisingly.

Pretty impressed if this is actually shipping today, and they aren't one of those shippers who creates a label well before actually putting the item in the carrier's hands.

My order is still in pending status so you’re a few days ahead of me it seems

Perhaps (or maybe sooner!). Hopefully you get both notices on the same day as well.

Edit: Interesting, I also just received a second shipping notice with a corrected FedEx tracking number.

I couldn't hold out any longer and ended up purchasing the 2.3 base model for $2,529 thru Adorama.com - free shipping and no sales tax. Would have cost me $3,029 had I gone to the Apple store down the street.

Just FYI that my order did actually ship same day as the "shipped" email from Expercom and arrives Friday. Very impressed thus far.

Please let us know how it arrives tomorrow. Whether well-packaged, no major screen blemishes (stuck pixels or excessive backlight bleed), etc. Thanks!

Okay, reporting back as requested. My MBP was delivered today and in the box that I'm typically used to receiving, i.e. a cardboard box with a couple side supports holding the actual product packaging within. The MBP was of course in its original shrink wrapped box. No signs of damage to the outer or inner box.

Screen looks great and I have no complaints. Perfectly happy with my purchase.

Now migrating is going to be an altogether different experience. My mid-2010 17" must be jealous because it just hangs when setting up for migrating. So now I'm going to try to do a Time Capsule backup to an external HDD, and migrate from there. That will take forever to create. I use Carbon Copy Cloner for back ups but read that it is not a good idea for migrating.

Anyway, based on my experience at least, completely recommend Expercom.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and good luck with getting it set up!

Woohoo! Finally got mine too (yesterday, the day before U.S. Thanksgiving). That's record time for an Apple shipment from China, by the way, way ahead of schedule (which was later than you'd have gotten it from Apple, of course). I unfortunately had a bitch of a time transferring my data to it, as I couldn't get any help on recovering from a failed migration, but after several 6 hour attempts, finally got it to work. Haven't had a chance to put it through it paces yet, though, as I'm still trying to convert all of my software licenses to the new machine.

I got mine Tuesday. I ordered a 2.4GHz, 32GB, 8GB VRAM model and its perfect and came shipped exactly the same as ones I've gotten from Apple. Couldn't be happier.
