I have a first gen pro that I use for marking up PDFs. It's heavy, but it works. I ended up getting a treadmill that uses an iPad as it's screen. I have been debating between waiting to get a new ipad pro and leaving my existing one attached or getting a cheap ipad and using that for the treadmill.

Do people really get excited at 5-10% off? I know every little bit helps, but on tech like this I tend to buy local (Best Buy or Apple) in case there is a problem. And in most cases I get something off regardless depending on if I use my Best Buy card or Apple Card. I hate mailing back returns.

This is very tempting since I've been needing a new Pro for a while. However, if the new iPad Pros switch to OLED or MiniLED, they will be way better. These sales are an indication we are on the cusp of a new iPad.

I guess if you are already planning on buying the discounted item and you don't have any good local options, it is nice.

But yeah, not enough to make you want to buy one just because of the small discount.

And like you, and for the same reasons, I like to buy local when possible (plus it is nice to support people that work in the area). My recent Apple purchases over the last 6 months or so:
  • iPad Mini 5 - bought it at Micro Center
  • iPhone XR - bought it at the Apple Store
  • MacBook Pro M1 - bought it at Best Buy
  • Apple Watch 6 - bought it at he Apple Store
