Woot's newest refurbished sale is focusing on the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus today, offering sale prices from $199.99 for the 64GB iPhone 8. The 256GB iPhone 8 is also available, priced at $229.99.

For the iPhone 8 Plus, prices start at $299.99 for the 64GB smartphone and rise to $349.99 for the 256GB model. Across the board, the iPhone 8 family is available in Space Gray, Silver, Gold, and (Product) Red, although some colors have already begun selling out on Woot.

All iPhone 8 devices have been inspected and are expected to have a moderate level of wear and tear. According to Woot, this means the smartphones may have scratches, dents, and dings, but outside of their physical appearance, they have been tested to be in full working condition.

Each of these smartphones also come with a 90 day Woot limited warranty, so be sure to visit Woot before the sale expires later tonight. Keep up with all of this week's best discounts on Apple products and related accessories in our dedicated Apple Deals roundup.

"Hey, you there! These items are expected to have a moderate level of wear & tear including (but not limited to) scratches, dents, and dings. Outside of their physical appearance, they have been tested to be in full working condition. Batteries are tested to function at minimum 85% capacity. "

Yeahhhh, I'm good. I would never get a "refurbished" phone from a company that has that FYI label. I can't believe you would even affiliate with this place.

Hmmmnnnn, would seem buyers would be better served going through eBay where they can see a picture of the exact iPhone they might buy (to look for dents, scratches etc.) and find out what shape the battery is in. This just seems like a roll of the dice for something not so good.

As others have pointed out it would be better to save up and go for the SE2 - which will be supported years longer.

If you want refurbished, the safest bet is through Apple, [and their one year warranty attached]. Apples refurbish devices have a lengthy history of being stringently tested, the batteries are typically replaced and displays if necessary.

I personally have not heard good things about ‘Woot’, but I have not used any of their services, nor do I intend to.

Totally agree. I don't understand how they call these "refurbished" at all - from the description they're literally just used phones! 🤦‍♂️

This is honestly the dealbreaker for me. 85% is about the time I'd go drop $50 at the apple store for a new battery. At $250 instead of $200 it's not a deal anymore.

I think many people would be better served by saving up a bit more for a new iPhone SE2.
People can choose to pay more for the very latest technology, or half the price for a refurbished phone that was sold brand new in the store just a few weeks ago. Whatever your wallet says.

I tried the woot deal on the iPhone 7 a few weeks ago. Battery dropped from 87% max capacity on arrival, to 82% after a week. It was locked to ATT, no way to unlock. I got lucky and Apple gave me a tradein on an SE2020 for almost as much as I paid.

For those in the US with AT&T or Verizon and don’t mind the contract, you can still get the SE2 through Walmart for a total of $199, nothing down, until sometime in June.

And not, for once, requiring a new line, which makes no freakin’ sense to me.

Love Woot. I have nothing but good experiences with them, and their refurbished electronics sales. I think some of you are expecting like new quality for half the price. Keep dreaming, as the leftover 8 and 8 plus models out there are over 400. I can see why some would consider this a great deal. And after hearing some of the battery stories about the new SE, no thanks.

If refurbished by Apple (with a one year warranty) I'd agree, but the site says, "All iPhone 8 devices have been inspected and are expected to have a moderate level of wear and tear. moderate level of wear and tear reads to me like devices that have been used enough to have a lot of battery wear and tear, and probably be outside of the 1 year Apple warranty. After the Woot 90 day warranty if anything happens you're out of luck.

Or...I'm overthinking this and they're awesome phones.

Woot got bought by Amazon a few years ago, so if you trust Amazon you can trust this. I prefer Swappa for trustworthy used devices.

Got an iPhone 8 from Woot two weeks ago when they ran the same deal. The sent me a beat up phone with a lot of scratches on the display. I didn’t eve power it up, sent it back right away.

I got an iPad Pro from them last November, that was in pristine condition, not even a fingerprint. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How much does MacRumors make from Woot, to justify these ads on the front page? Here's a thought - if we're a paid MacRumors contributor, could we get these articles hidden along with the display ads?
