Long story short.

I'm on my father in-law's business family plan as a member. I'm not eligeble for a update however my wife is.. she would like to transfer the upgrade to me. Great! Sounds so easy.. but its not. I want to buy the phone at Apple only to avoid the shipping with Verizon.
...but..

1) When I want to buy online for store pick up it comes up with a error saying business customers need to call Verizon directly.

2) Loosing my patience and just want to buy that dang phone at full price. - no cant do! The Apple people keeps telling I have to order it online.. which I cant (see 1)

3) or come in in the morning. Dear Apple. I have a job. I dont have time to stand in line at 8am.

Dear Apple. I will try one more time and then give up. I know you dont care but I just needed to vent :)

Dear Kriska,

The problem isn't Apple. It's Verizon.

Dear Kriska: you should probably register your complaint with Verizon and see if a business rep can help you out.

Your other option is to have your father-in-law permit a transfer of responsibility of your line out to an individual account in your name, which would remove the business account limitations. Of course the bad news is, any nice discounts that come with that business account would be gone, and/or you'd have to have to pay your own phone bill. The restriction on ordering is the price you pay for having a business account line, and all the perks that your father-in-law managed to negotiate as part of his business account.

Dear Kriska: These are entirely Verizon's policies. Apple cannot change how Verizon restricts their customers' ability to order new phones. Sorry.

You are not worthy to possess an iPhone.

lol sorry just trying to be hilarious.

:eek::apple::apple::apple:

But scaredpoet is right. VZW has a lot of bogus restrictions in place with business accounts. However, the apple store should have specialists that can deal with this kinda crap. Im surprised your apple store won't let you buy it full price, must be because of limited stock. Try other stores around the area.

Or hell, go to best buy and ask them to price match apple. They're struggling to stay in business and are desperate they'll do anything to get you to pork out money.

All the people with 5S's right now will be stuck with contracts when the 6 comes out.

Really don't get why people are waiting for the S when the iPhone 5C is out.

It's a no brainer. Just get a 5C.

Still on the hunt.

Stopped by Target in Hayward.. they had one ATT phone left. Gah!

Called all the local Verizon stores. Nothing. They only had one shipment on launch day.

My last option is Best Buy and Apple Store.

I spoke with a manager from my local Apple Store earlier today and and he was very understanding and said they Verizon business accounts was a b**** to upgrade and expect 45min waiting at least for when getting in and setting up.

Gonna try that same store this afternoon after work.. if that fails... I will buy a Nokia 3210

And here we go again.

Soo as mentioned yesterday I wanted to give it a extra shot today.

Called Best Buy, no luck. Sold out.. but they did mention that I could come in a put my name down for a reservation list.

Called Apple Store in San Mateo and got in hold of business rep Amy. Super sweet and very helpful. Amy told me that they did acutally have the silver 32 gb Verizon on hand.. she knew that Verizon business customers was in a pain as there are now way they can reserve it or buy it online.
I asked her to put one a side for me, I told her that I could be there in 30mins. She couldn't reserve one but assured that one would be there for me...

30mins later I'm in the store.. asking for a 32gb silver Verizon phone. Guess what! SOLD OUT!! I told the dude to get Amy... I was pissed :) .. oh well, Amy came out and apologized. They were all gone.. bought online from Apple.com.

I was there for 30min talking with her trying to figure out how to work around the issue. She was super nice about it used a lot of time with my wife and I.

She did mention that they had the gray on hand but I was set on the silver. She told me that they normally would get new shipments around noon and would not recommend me to come in at 9am.

... on my way out I took a good look at the colors and compared the silver to the gray... and I started to like the gray better :)

turned around and the service rep picked one up for me... yeah!! Happy camper.. for 5mins!!

Apple Service rep called Verizon business CS but they were closed and now I have to come back tomorrow morning. Oh well at least they are reserving that phone to me.

What a trip!

Its not over yet but we are getting close.

Dear Apple.

Thank you for the Silver IP5S. I love it! Its a lot lighter and faster than my black 4s.

Ps. Verizon I hate you.

Pps. Apple Store in San Mateo, Hillsdale was a great help. I would highly recommend them.

And all of the people who get contracts with the 6 will be stuck on them when the 6s comes out. And so on, and so forth.

Resale > fund new phone device only > rinse, repeat . . .

If you are that concerned about having every new phone.

Ran into that when we got our phones 2 years ago.... an hour and 15 minutes later at Best Buy - they realized why couldn't upgrade there.

15 minutes later and a waived activation fee at the Verizon store across the parking lot we were set.

Happy to hear we can now maybe get one at Apple - that will be nice.

As for the why we didn't know - when my mom transferred our phones out of the (closed) business into her name, she didn't realize they really left it as a business account. It hadn't been an issue until that point.
