So I'm an Android head with millennial tech guys close to my heart.

I'd love to be a sales associate at an Apple store and grow a career. I'm confident I can learn enough that I could sell products and support basic issues before I even get an interview.

But any pointers? I've applied for the job over the weekend. I selected most stores in my metro area.

I also want to work full-time. Any thoughts on that?

What are some things you wish you could have from an associate? Certain levels of knowledge? Maybe about this or that?

What are certain topics I MUST know about?

I knew if there was one crazy apple community online, it would be you all. : D

i was hired in 2006 to work freelance to provide inventory and stocking services for a new store in the east coast USA.
that position led to a part time tech repair position in the store upon opening that i left within a month
to help a friend with his website company as a designer, then devleoper.
i was really not happy working with  as i thought
and drank beer after every closing before heading home, i needed that drink!

My advice is to be yourself, though they look for patricidal kind of people that dont question the  way.
they (personal-human resources) are very tight on who they hire
as a smart tech person is a minus compared to a ripe, smaller statured person with a shallow smile
as they can mold them to sell that extra  care.

good luck and i wish for the best!

I only know from many years ago a former colleague that left to work in one of the flagship Apple stores and they quickly found it was a miserable pressure-cooker environment. The person had no lack of hard-work ethics and working for us was very reliable, so it's not some "snowflake" who can't handle the pressure situation - just want to make that clear before someone raises that.

I hope they aren't the same way these days.

i remember was no one was pressured into buying when the entered the  store.
Our sales staff were not allowed to force sell anything in 2006
and took anything back within 14 days no question asked (except damage)

i remember how bad someone could treat a powerbook in 2 weeks, the stickiness on the entire case was touch to clean, i had to fix more that expected powerbooks with spiders webs and snack crackers embbeedd in the keys on logic board on several notebooks before shipping them to Cuppertino. we had a box of keys we ran out of in a month and....well...ouch!

anyways the calmness and non-arm twisting approach was under the steve jobs regime
as the itouch or iphoine was not launched yet, so every sales and customer was welcoming.

Nothing. But I decided on studying Public Affairs. I did some number crunching and I could do it without working (working PT for a nonprofit that aims for a greener and cleaner NYC. I want the Public Affairs degree to help with my biggest dream of being in office. I just still wanted a career in SUmthing. I almost took A+ certification to get an IT career but this is best. Still want time for family. Know that's a lot but that's the scoop. Thank you for your words.
