I'm kinda torn. I have until Friday to decide if I should exchange my 7 for a 7 Plus. I love the camera features and the battery life on the Plus, but I'm just not sure if I can do with the size or not. Ideally, I'd like to return my 7 and test a Plus out but seeing as it ships in 3-4 weeks, it's not that quick and easy to do, especially since the phone I'd be using in the meantime is shattered.

Anyone have experience with making this tough decision (or vice versa)?

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you except I bought mine through ATT Next and turned in my other one to receive the credits so I don't know how it would work for me.

Actually thinking about doing the opposite, made the leap to the Plus this year, and about a week in I'm pretty sure I'm going to go back down. I can almost use the phone one-handed but it's just so large that I feel I'm always trying to find someplace to put it.

I bought a 7 and then found a 7 plus. The plus is going to be my choice. Screen size is something I need with my vision. The camera has been outstanding too. As far as size yes it's bigger but I put it in my pocket just like the 7 and its fine.

Can you borrow a friend's/family member's Plus for a couple of hours? I was torn too, and this is how I ultimately made my decision. Just walked around with it, did a "pocket test", that sort of thing. Screen is great, but I decided I didn't want to deal with the size on a daily basis.

I went from the 6s to the 7 plus this year and I'm happy I did. I like the larger screen and battery and the phone is not as unwieldy as I thought. I've always used two hands to type messages so I can imagine if you use one hand for texting it may be a bit of an adjustment. I didn't have to adjust much to get used to one hand usage for scrolling Facebook & Reddit so the transition has been really easy for me. I don't see myself going back to a smaller phone than the plus in the future.

I went from a 6+ to a 7. The size is much nicer for putting in your pockets. The 7+ is phablet territory. I think they should make both phones a little bigger. 4", 5", and 6". 5" would be nice for me. The only downside is the battery life is weaker in the smaller phones. Also it is nice to have screen real estate surfing at home, but the 7+ is massive when you're out and about. If you're a home/work body, I'd get the 7+. If you're out and about a lot, the 7 is a nice portable size.

Thanks for all the replies! I just went to Best Buy today to see it and it doesn't seem that unwieldy. I feel that for the battery life and better camera it will be worth it. My 7 only gets about 6 hrs a day on it before I need to charge

The Plus is ergonomically lacking, period. That said, the battery life is simply too good to pass up. The 6/S plus never once let me down or died on me, and I never had to restrict my usage. No other phone has allowed me to do that. Including my 6S. The screen is better too.

If camera and battery life are important to you, get the plus.

From a practical standpoint, I'm a girl and always scoff at the idea of heaving a huge size phone (hated my Note 3). Then, after having the 6 for two years, I realized it was a joke. The 6 wasn't small enough for me to hold and type single handedly, nor was it mall enough to fit in my jean pockets or clutches. But I did have to sacrifice the screen size. So this year, I got the 7+ w/o any debate. The 7 is just an awkward size to have - Not small enough to be used single handed and not big enough to read and type.

PS. I would NOT post any reply with my old 6. The screen size was just too small for me to compose anything long.

I went from a 6S Plus to a 7. I really enjoy the size of the 7 but worry about battery life. Like the previous poster, rarely would I need a charge on a plus. I do have access to 7 plus now and have not ruled it out.

I had the 7 plus for a week, decided to return it and get the 7. Now I regret the decision and will be going back to the plus. I had the 6 and SE prior.

Obviously, everyone will have different experiences. For me, I originally purchased the 6. I really wanted the larger screen on the 6+ but was afraid it was too large and unwieldy. When the 6S+ came out I really wasn't interested in upgrading but decided to give the + a go. I can say, with no reservations that I love the + and can't imagine going back. FAR easier to handle than I had worried about.

Again, YMMV depending on your habits, hand size, etc.

Agreed - I went with the Plus this time, and got my JB 256 plus a week ago (lucky to get in the very first deliveries). I definitely like the added real estate. Before I decided on what I would preorder, I would borrow a coworkers 6plus at lunch or when we had free time. After using it some, decided on the plus. I do not regret it.

Interestingly enough I type much faster on the SE than the plus or regular.

I got the 6+ and thought it was too big for me (coming from a 4) 2 years ago. At the time I thought no way would I bother with the plus size again. I ended up with a 6. Now I got the 7+ because of the camera and superior screen size/resolution. I did it thinking I would return it if I had the same feeling I had 2 years ago.
Crazy thing is I'm 90% sure I'm keeping the plus. I got kids and love that I can do more (dual camera lens) and better capture moments in their lives. What is that saying? The best camera is the one you have. I always have the phone on me. The 7 is a great choice too. I would not be sad if I had to have a 7, but at this point, I'm ready to handle the plus and deal with it's only trade off IMO-its overall size. I'll deal with a slight size inconvenience in exchange for the features that suit my life best at this time. Hope you find the phone that best suits your needs.

For me when I first got a Plus a few years ago, the size was something I admit I had to get used to. Got so nervous, kept thinking I was going to drop it. But after a day or so, I adjusted pretty quickly. Now I don't think I can ever consider the normal 4.7 iPhones anymore. The screen size is worth it.
