Decent discount available, max it out?

I have been out of the iPad game since the first (which I haven't owned for some time). I have the opportunity for a decent discount and want to know if maxing it out would be a good idea.

Will the top spec model still pull top resale value?

Verizon or AT&T?

maybe his work covers a portion of it and he pays the difference. my work paid up to $300 on a tablet for me. i got the 16gb lte att for around $350 (out of my pocket)
