Hi,

making a decision between

MacBook Pro M5 10GPU 16GB
vs
MacBook Air M5 10GPU 24GB

Non-Commercial Personal Projects with:

Final Cut Pro
AI video upscaling/rendering etc.

Which is better?

Yeah, I have used my dilema with the AI and the argument is heavy about cooling ... so Pro then. Thanks🙂

The AI may benefit more from the increased memory. Especially if you plan on 4K upscales. Depending on what you are doing. You'll be using 4GB to 12GB RAM as video memory. You'll want enough remaining memory for CPU related tasks. I'd say even 24GB is pushing it as it is split between the two. It may take longer on some tasks due to thermal throttling. But that's just time. Whereas if you don't have enough memory for AI work, you hit a hard limit. AI eats RAM.

Obviously with all these decisions we don't know how much of a factor your budget it. There are M4 MBP's around that could allow you to increase the RAM. Personally I always tend to go the max battery life I can get, which is the base MBP.
