used stuffit expander

Had a tough time with this one too. Had ten files, nine with extensions .rar.z01, and the last one with a .rar.zip extension.

I pointed Stuffit Expander (version 15.0.2 on Snow Leopard) to the .rar.zip file. It found the parts automatically and created a plain old .rar master file. I decompressed this, and viola...no renaming, moving or hassle.

I logged in just to let all know what worked for me:

1) used the free Stuffit app "expander_installer_en_4255.dmg".
2) renamed all .z01 - .z04 files to .001 - .004 including the zip file which I named .005 lastly.
3) ran Stuffit Expander and located the xxxx.001 file to expand.
4) VOILA! I got my video from the 5 files.

z01, z02... zip files --- this method below worked!

This surprisingly worked for me.

Here is what I did:

for argument's sake your file is z01, z02, z03, z04, z05 and zip.

Open "Split and Concat" program. Select Concat. Select the .zip file. Now it will join all the files together.

Once done, add a .zip extension to the new file that has been created.

Now open this file with "The Unarchiver" program.

This worked for me without having to rename any files.

Hey i'm having trouble decompressing this multi part (.zip and .z01-.z03) files becuase i eitehr get an issue with the file not beinga supported archive or something along those lines usually.
ive tried about 6 different decompression applications without much luck. i have a password for the files but havent been prompted to use it, heh.
well thanks

Just right click the file and then select compress. It will change its format to ".zip" file after doing so.

Does this actually combine the split files, or just collect them into an archive that, when you de-archive it, returns to a bunch of split files?
