Default Application for Unkown File Types

The title says all. I want to open everything that isn't already associated with an app in textedit, instead of the horridly repetitive and time consuming "open with...". How do I do this?

There's a utility called Default Apps that may be of use to you.

Couldn't you just append the .txt extension to the file name and set textedit as the default to open .txt files? Or any file extension, for that matter.
