The default Save location in OS X appears to be the Documents folder but I need to change this. Does anyone know how to do so? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere and would be most grateful for a solution. Thanks

If you get either of these 2 widows it's pretty self explanatory.
In the first you select where. In the second choose where to save from list on left. iCloud Drive is selected here.

Not sure if you can change the default location, but, to save yourself some clicks, you could put an alias of what you want the default to be in Documents.

The default location is the directory where you last opened or saved a file. This is maintained on an app by app basis. If you want a quick way to select something else, put it in the sidebar.
