Default Finder View Problem

so why does my finder view keep defaulting to column view when I keep putting it back to icon view.

by this I mean, I want it to show icon view always but when I reboot it sets back to column view

Go to Finder --> Preferences --> General

Is the option "Open new windows in column view" checked by any chance?

Tiger's Finder preferences like to not always stay how you have them. I find it helps for a while if you open a few new finder windows after you get the settings set.

Okay...that was the most obvious option and easiest to fix. Now we've established that it appears to be Tiger not respecting your preferences, as calebjohnston mentioned. I agree with his advice...about all you can do is set your window to Icon view and open a few windows to make sure it works okay. Then cross your fingers and hope for the best.

naw, I totally understand, in fact I had followed a similar logic by opening a finder window and closing it using file->close instead of cmmd+w. funny enough it seems that sometimes silly things like these end up working, I'll give 'er a try later 2nite.
