Is there a way of defaulting .mp4 files to open in Quicktime? I'm experiencing an issue in which movie files in .mp4 format are for some reason opening in another application I use for audio editing.

I can still play the movie file in Quicktime, but only if I right click it and select it from the "Open With" menu.

It's not terribly important, but it's frustrating after a while.

Did you already try to change the default behaviour in the Finder's information window? I am not sure how it is exactly called in English, but I guess it must be an option like “Change all …” in a section like “Open with:” in the information window of a mp4-File in the Finder. Prior to clicking this button, you should select “QuickTime Player” from the above pop-up button. If it doesn't work immediately, try it again.

This is the section I am talking about.
