Received my ATT 128+ Jet Black today excited as anyone would be to get my baby in the mail finally and it's defective. The SIM tray isn't flush with the phone at all, you can clearly feel it protruding from the side. I've taken it out a couple times to see if maybe it wasn't closed all the way but it will not push anymore then it already is.

Also the top right hand corner of the phone has a strange mark around the water proofing seal. And that's not all the lightening cable charge port also isn't flush with the phone, I don't know how this got past quality control by any means. My question is what are the odds apple will have a replacement if I take this to a store to have it fixed or replaced? Do they keep phones for these kinds of issues?

Pictures will be posted once I get home. (I know how people are if there isn't a pic it didn't happen lol.)

The likelihood that they will have a replacement available? Slim to none. Not with their current lack of stock.

Absolutely crazy, I feel for you! I hope you are able to get it all rectified soon. I'm sure the Apple stores keep some stock on hand set aside for replacements. Jet black being their scarcest color across the board at this point, it might be wise to call your closest store (or different ones if many are accessible) and ask.

Seems like there is a lot of quality control issues with the iPhone 7 and 7 plus. My 7 plus creaks when picking up corners or using force touch (it seems that majority of users also experience an amount of creaking or clicking coming from their iPhone 7 plus). This is my second 7 plus btw, my first one had a speaker that rattled, with the speaker mesh inside pushed in and bent. Makes me question my decision to purchase, although I love the phone itself.

Mine's was doing the same thing, looks like it's from the water resistant seal. I took out the SIM tray, reinserted, and it's now flush.

Apple will definitely replace your device with no questions asked. However, your color is severely limited, as you know. But none the less, return it. That's not acceptable for a $900.00 device.

Thanks guys I have tried this and also gave it a little more pressure but it still pops back out. Below are the pics of what I'm talking about.

Apple support ask me to send them pics if I could which I did and once they saw these they said that this wasn't normal by any means, and the phone is defective and shouldn't have passed quality control. I'm told to take to my local Apple Store and was given a contact to have a replacement tomorrow fingers crossed.

Yeah that's ridiculous. I can't imagine you'll have any trouble getting it replaced. If they don't have replacements I'd probably just return it and either wait for them to become more readily available or get yourself a 6s+. Damn near the same phone for less and they've got that generation nailed down.

Or just keep the phone till they have a JB available... don't let them sucker you into getting another color, bro!

I will be keeping this color that's for sure. I just can't believe they are letting things like this get out. Hopefully not to many more people get one like this.

My Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus is the same way. You can definitely feel it. My Silver iPhone 7 Plus you can't feel it.

@Plilbeye How did this story end? :)

Alright well I still haven't gotten my replacement device yet. They sent me to Santa Monica and told me they had a device for me but once there the device they had was a JB 7 not 7+ very frustrating to say the least. But they have my name an number cause they will call me when one arrives. They have offered to take it back via mail in order and then send a replacement but they are telling me that it wouldn't deliver till November but they could try and expedite it but they can't guarantee anything. So needless to say I'm still waiting.

Can u still use the device with it out like that? Any sim reading issues? Maybe you can use it for a month or two and wait for supply issues to catch up. Bummer tho

And does pushing it in with your thumb fix it? I'm assuming you've tried though.

My jet black is the same. For whatever reason, this has been common with many jet blacks.

I can use it every now and then it will tell me the SIM isn't inserted, I have tried to push the SIM tray in unfortunately it doesn't really do anything.
