Hi, my friend sent me my brand new Ipad 16Gb Wifi, which I'm guessing has a defective home button, beacuse I have to press it very hard or many times to close an app. I live abroad and I cannot sent it back to the store. Any suggestions how to repair it?

You may have to wait until end of May and then return to store there. I don't think you will have any problems exchanging as long as you have receipt. I don't know of any way to "repair" a home button. Sorry and good luck to you.
Actually, I've never needed to show a receipt to get service for an Apple product under warranty, they just look up the serial number and it shows whether or not it's under warranty. And yes, that would work if the OP is in one of the countries where the iPad goes on sale at the end of May, but he didn't say which country he's in.
I live in Peru, which has an "Apple Store" (not oficial) but the Ipad is not scheduled for release here. The problem sending it back to my friend is that when she sents again the Ipad, it has to pay customs tariff (around USD 100) again. 🙁

Can't she declare it as "used"? The replacement comes in a white, unmarked box, so it won't look "new." An additional idea is to have her write your name as the sender, so it looks like you are sending the package to yourself. I've done that when I was actually moving from one country to another, and it was enough to convince the customs officials not to charge any tariff.
