I think the taser was misused in this case, although it's difficult to tell. I guess it's easier than trying to control the situation (i.e. him) first before going to the taser, but perhaps that's what happened. Anyway, it was used for too long.

As far as I'm concerned, when you start threatening someone and are acting in the way this man was acting you give up your rights to a "calm resolution".

The guy's an idiot.

So are the guys around him. Imagine if it were you who was sentenced in this situation!

As far as I'm concerned, I can easily imagine an outburst like that if I had to deal with people like the ones in the video.

But tasers are not only used in violent assaults. As an example, one man was tasered to death on an Airport because he damaged furniture and a computer in an office. There was no danger for anyone's health; they could have waited outside for him to calm down (there were people in the office, but they sensibly left), arrest him, charge him, give him the bill for the damage. Instead security went in and tasered him until he was gone.

Ya, alright... We're talking about a court case right now though, so i think thats irrelevant.

I'm all for taser use, i think that stats support me because even though it is lethal, the alternatives are more dangerous. If the police wrestled with the offender then there is a chance of an innocent officer getting killed. If they shot him then there is a huge chance that he dies. This is the most effective solution regardless of how you look at it
