I'm sure it's not broken. You have probably done something wrong somewhere. It's impossible to give further advice unless you can describe what you are doing step by step and in detail, and the results you are getting.
 
ok
i plugged my iphone in to my comp
i held down both sleep and home buttons then released sleep
the comp recognized i had a iphone in recovery mode and i restored the iphone
it worked and my home screen came up after i had restored it and it was just like regular before i had jailbroken it
but then when i put my backed up info on it and activated it it just goes to a black screen with the apple logo in the middle and the loading circle over it.

i have tried this multiple times and always get the same result

So, am I right in assuming that after you have successfully restored the phone you quit iTunes, then run ziphone by clicking on 'Do It All' and this process finishes after a few minutes with a successful 'completion report' from the ziphone program?

If ziphone doesn't work in that way, try deleting the program and re-installing a fresh copy of it (your original file may be corrupted).

If it does report success with Jailbreaking, Activation and Unlocking , it seems to me as if the problem sets in when you put your backed up settings onto your iPhone because you are just re-loading onto the phone whatever has caused the problem before and it will happen again.

When iTunes gives you the choice, you should choose the 'set up as a new iPhone' option. You will still get your contacts, music, photos. etc. back when you synch it if you are worried about that.
 
i dont want to unlock it but just jailbreak

if i dont restore my iphone with my old iphone info, and i setup a new one, will i have to make a new number? and then how do i get all my old information like contacts back.

Is it the case that you only want to Jailbreak because you have a non iPhone AT&T sim card that you want to use?

If so, I think that you will find that on any firmware above 1.1.2 the sim card will not work unless you unlock the phone as well.

If you have an AT&T iPhone contract and just want to Jailbreak so that you can use third party applications then you need only select Jailbreak on ziphone.

As for setting it up as a new phone - this will not lose your phone number or your contacts, music, photos etc. All items of this nature will be loaded back onto the phone when you carry out your first sych with iTunes after you've finished (as I said in my last post).

I'VE FOUND A MUCH EASIER WAY:
Follow the tutorial up to the 1.1.2 updating. While running 1.1.2, open up Installer and install "Official 1.1.3 Installer." This will wirelessly install 1.1.3 on your iPhone/iPod touch. I know, its a huge file, and its a bugger to wait for, but its a hell of a lot easier then all the command prompt thingies. Newbs: choose this way 😀
 
Got to step 14, cannot find the oktoprep package to install, how neccesary is this and is it okay for me to continue without?

It is VERY IMPORTANT to get oktoprep. To get it, you need to install "Community Resourses. This will reveal a lot more applications that you may download, one of them is oktoprep. Good luck. 🙂

Can't even get past step 6?

hey,

I'm having a problem with restoring to 1.1.1. I put the iphone into the correct restore mode, select the 1.1.1 package in itunes to restore to, but after Itunes starts the restore proceess I don't get the error messages (1013 or 1015) - itunes says my iphone was restored and the iphone says Activate Iphone, connect to Itunes. I tried to do the #307# step and that doesn't work either....

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? I've tried it 4 times already and its always the same result.

I don't know how to fix your problem, but as everyone is saying, ZiPhone works. I used this guide when I jailbroke my phone for the first time. After a few days, I accidentally installed something that wasn't compatible with 1.1.3, and it messed my phone up so much, I had to re-jailbreak. When I tried to re-jailbreak it, iNDependence wouldn't work, so that's when I finally tried ZiPhone. It did all of the work for me. Using this guide to jailbreak my phone for the first time took me about 8 hours (I messed up and had to repeat steps), but ZiPhone jailbroke my iPhone in less than 60 SECONDS.

Long story short, ZiPhone is WORTH IT (and there is no bad consequence, either, so DO IT)!!!!!!😀
 
Someone needs to delete this thread or something. Just edit the first post with instructions on using ZiPhone.

1. Run ZiPhone
2. Click "Jailbreak"
3. Click Start

Instructions on downgrading, upgrading, etc. Pointless!
 
This is still here because ZiPhone, and Zibri's software in general, is poorly written. It has the tendency to do things to your phone that you don't want it to do and that are typically not reversible, like downgrading your bootloader from 4.6 to 3.9 without even telling you. Not to mention that the greater iPhone developer community generally frowns on Zibri for the ways that he obtains/steals the stuff he distributes as his own.

You're certainly free to use ZiPhone if you like, but use it at your own peril. If it were to downgrade your bootloader on a phone that originally came with 4.6 (and it does it using an unsafe method, by the way), you would never be able to return it or get warranty service done on it by Apple since they would notice the discrepancy even if you tried to virginize it.

If you want to take the easy way, don't use ZiPhone. Use something like iPlus or iNdependence.

so just jailbreaking your phone using ZiPhone can do irreversible "damage" to the phone that a simple restore cannot fix? i was under the impression that, as long as you stick to only a jailbreak, a restore in itune would bring it back to a virgin state. am i wrong?

As long as you don't select the 'downgrade bootloader' option it is fully reversible.

Whatever Zibri may have done wrong the fact is he came out with the most user friendly and reliable unlock method that allows for a fully functioning phone whatever point you started at.

All the other elite teams rushed out buggy soft upgrades that didn't work for all users and were far from tested. I just sincerely hope there 'breaking' of 2.0 is better. It seems they are more concerned with making names for themselves and out doing each other then they are providing an actual useable service.
 
Jailbreak Problems Again

I've been trying to follow the guide and its ok up to a point. I get past the restore 1.1.1 version and end up with a jailbroken 1.1.1 iPhone. Then I do oktoprep from installer, upgrade to 1.1.2 (not restore) although I do get a 1015 error but I'm not sure if that's normal or not as its not in the guide, so any advice would be great. Then I run the windows.bat file to java break the 1.1.2 version. Its start running but then always hangs at the line 28211552/314572800.

I'v gone through the process several times and still not having any luck at all. can anyone help??? ..... please ......

Well 2 days later I'm still trying to jailbreak my iphone. I follow the guide, get as for asgoing to the jailbreakme website. So far I've had to repeat that step 29 times and still no success. Seems to be hit and miss. When I get past that step, and to the oktoprep, update to 1.1.2 and then run the windows.bat file, every time without fail it stops at the same point I've mentioned above.

Totally frustrated at this time and seriously considering smashing my iphone against a wall just to make me feel good!

Any help would be appreciated!
