That's one thing. When I was reporting spammers, I looked at the "Show Leaders" and the only staff member online was Arn, and he was dealing with the articles on the front page.

Yep, but people have to sleep! I'm online a lot at odd hours of the day when I can't sleep, and that's often when the bulk of the spam comes in. With football, tennis etc. all coming up these people won't give up easily...The truth about those streams is at best you get a lousy pixelated image, and at worst you lose your CC details....Bad news all round!

I know. It was a bad time for forum staff to react...which is exactly why that is a good time for them. I was reading a little bit about some of those spam bots. Someone said that a lot were actually Frankensteined versions of IE6, and when they blocked IE6, it actually cut down on a large amount of spam.

Another option, that might slow them down, is adding a reCAPTCHA for posting a new thread.

Just another thought, todays batch has started appearing, and I have reported one username, To prevent people reporting the same post, why not just post "Username Reported" underneath?

It would save multiple reports on the same username as they often bulk post.

It's not worth responding in a spam thread. Multiple reports on the same post does not cause any extra work for us. In fact, if I see multiple reports for the same post, I just consider that an unofficial escalation in priority.

This is true - reports for the same post go into the same report thread, so it's still only one report to deal with.

And responses often create extra work (they have to be deleted if the thread itself stays).
