Delay when answering calls on iPhone 7 Plus

Hi everybody

So just got my new iPhone 7 plus and it's a great phone. However when answering calls I consistenly experience a 5-6 sec. delay from accepting the call until I can actually hear the caller.

I have tested if it's a 3G fallback issue and it is not - and when receiving a FaceTime Call there is no lag.

Do any of you experience this very frustrating issue??

I have been experiencing this with both iPhone 6, 6S and now the 7 on AT&T. This happens when the other person is on a different carrier. Its almost as if there is a lag of a few seconds while the two calls connect.

What carrier is the phone being used on?
