Delete avi files (from iTunes)

hi all, i watch movie files on my iphone so to do that i have to put them in itunes and sync them. When i have watched them i un tick them and sync phone and they are removed off my phone. The problem is i cant get them off itunes as the boxes are un ticked but i cant work out a way to remove them. I can high lite them but not delete them. On my old pc i just hit the delete key and they disapeared. Any ideas would be appreciated..

I meant mp4 files...

The problem is i cant get them off itunes as the boxes are un ticked but i cant work out a way to remove them.

Right-click on them and select "Delete". You could also hold down the Option key and press Delete.
