Delete mail from MobileMe but not Mail.app?

I searched and I found people doing the opposite, but I couldn't find anyone saying if this is possible:

I would like to be able to keep all of my emails on my computer, and actually in the Mail.app (not just in an archive), but I'd like them to be deleted from the server so that they are ONLY on my computer. Can this be done?

You could make a new saved mail mailbox "On My Mac" (not on MobileMe) and just drag the messages you want to keep from the MobileMe box to the On My Mac box you made. That would remove the messages from MM and keep them local to your computer.
