Delete messages after 30 days not working

I have my message history option set to 30 days and it is still showing messages from more than a month ago. Does this only delete messages from the point that I set it going forward or should it do it retroactively?

I have the same issue. When does the iPhone/iPad actually get around to deleting the messages?

On my phone/pad, it will wait 30 actual days and only clear the messages as I click on the persons name. Sometimes they will disappear prior to that but normally it has been when I go to look.

Looking at my iPad I have several that are already empty (deleted threads) and one that cleared when I clicked the name. Mostly it works but sometimes it needs a little help.

I have my iPad set to delete messages that are older than a year and it doesn't seem to be working.

If you think that's bad, try searching for an old and deleted message in Spotlight and you'll be surprised.
