Delete messages on one device but not another

Hey how can I delete messages off my ipad but not have the messages deleted on my iphone?

You might not have this question anymore since this is an old thread, but have you tried on your iPad turning off “Messages in iCloud” in Apple ID > iCloud > Show all > Messages in iCloud but leave iMessage on? (To continue receiving new messages)
