delete 'on my mac' notes in apple notes?

not sure where this came from... all my notes are on my phone/mac in icloud, and everything works.

but today, there's a notes folder (empty) in apple notes, under 'on my mac'.
and i can't delete it (or hide/get rid of 'on my mac').

anyone? not life&death but annoying as hell... 🙄

fixed. if anyone's interested:

removed the notes folder in home>library>containers, the cached notes folder.
turned off icloud notes. rebooted.

turned on icloud notes, opened the app...and 'on my mac' is gone, and my icloud folders are all there.

not a scientific fix (i just tried a bunch of things), but worked... 😎
