so i have my new macbook and i really like it so far. everything does seem smoother and more refined than windows, i have to say. but i have some issues that hopefully you guys with tons of experience could help me with:

1. shortcuts

now, i don't mind changing the way i work from windows. but i have to say, there are certain functions in windows that are useful, such as forward deleting and page up/page down. it's nice to be able to push one button and do those things. and i don't mind that apple has shortcuts for those things, either. but geez...fn+delete, or fn+arrow???? must we really have to push two buttons at opposite corners of the keyboard, necessitating the use of two hands?? come on, apple...you're supposed to make things easier. i don't even mind using one hand and pushing two buttons in a shortcut. but this is ridic.

anyway, enough of my rant. i tried to create new shortcuts in the system preferences, but it wouldn't seem to let me. can anyone please help me with that?

2. mail

i use yahoo mail (the free version.) i'd like to use mail.app, principally because it's more integrated and i don't need to log in and out all the time. do you think it's worth it to pay for yahoo mail plus to do that?

also, why is it that yahoo mail (free) works with the iphone and not with mail.app? that seems weird.

3. ichat

i'd like to use ichat, also because it's integrated. but it sounds like adium is the better choice. i still can't believe we can't use one program and id to talk with everyone, like how email works.

4. that's it. i wish i had more questions to ask, but i don't yet.

thanks!

for the mail thing, just go with gmail and send your contacts your new address. it works with mail.app and the iphone with minimal configuration

for chatting, adium is the way to go. I don't understand what you mean by "i still can't believe we can't use one program and id to talk with everyone, like how email works." -- you can set up any chat account in adium and just have one buddy list (Yahoo, AIM, MSN, Google, etc)

thanks for keyboard mapping program...perfect!

and i didn't know that about adium...i was under the impression that it wasn't like that, and that every buddy list had to be kept separate.

thanks!
