when you are looking at a photo on your Ipod Touch, touch the bottom right corner, a little trash can icon will appear, click the icon and it will give you the option to delete the picture or cancel.

  • Go to the app and go to pictures bottom right trash click it and press delete! It did take me a few days to find that out so it was hard

Okay, what am I doing wrong.

I tired it with pictures that I saved on the touch from doing screen shots.

This works.

However, when viewing a photo that has been sync'ed with iTunes, when I touch the bottom right corner no trash can icon appears.

You are not doing anything wrong. You've been given duff information.

You can only delete photos which you have saved from Safari or Mail. Photos you have synced through iTunes can only be taken off the touch through iTunes. Sync on, sync off.

Thanks. I thought I'd either lost my mind or had my original Touch replaced with an alien look-alike.

Try this, should work...

If memory serves me right, the iPod uses a FAT file system.

Try using PixFix. I downloaded a copy the other day to recover some deleted photos on my camera and was surprised to see it can permanently erase deleted images as well! :)

..a little hack

It may happens that some 3rd party apps install extra directories out
of scope from itunes/iphoto and you are not able to delete them .
There's an hack (tested on FMW version 2.2.1)
1) have a MAC (intel)
2) connect IPOD to it
3) download http://iphone.natetrue.com/OtherErica/MedUtils-0.1.tar
4) start a terminal and uncompress
5) #cd <place where you uncompressed>
6) #util
cd /DCIM/100APPLE
rmdir IMG_0001.JPG
rmdir IMG_0001.THM

<.. for all files ..>

cd ..
rmdir 100APPLE
cd ..
rmdir DCIM

<..you cn also save before delete ..>
cd /DCIM/100APPLE
getfile IMG_0001.JPG /Users/Riccardo/tmp/IMG_0001.JPG
..
..

Thats only for stuff you save from Safari and Mail and whatever on the iPod itself. Theres no option to delete photos that were synced via iTunes.

Interesting thread; and I, too, never knew about the video delete option. Thank goodness for a thread bump!

Although it turns out, the "video delete" doesn't actually delete the video until you sync the iPod. At least that's how it works with movies I've loaded.

What an idiotic oversight on Apple's part.

I wonder if it has to do with the way the files are stored, or why they would do something like that.

Hi Guys.

I still don't get it.
I imported some photos into my iPod using iTunes.
I then wanted to delete some (from the iPod would've been nice, but thanks to this forum I obviously can't. How pathetic!)

I have followed the Mac Help on how to do it:
"
1. Connect your iPod to your computer.
2. When the iPod icon appears in the iTunes Source list (below Devices), select it.
3. If the Summary pane isn't showing, click the Summary tab.
4. Click "Enable disk use".
5. All imported photos are located in the "DCIM" folder on the iPod disk."

I get stuck at Step 4. Where is "Enable disk use". It's not on my screen.

Please help. This is soooo frustrating having to spend this amount of time on something which should be so simple.

Thanks,
WayneG.

Ok

You can't delete them without your computer. What should have done from the start was to put the photos you wanted in your Touch from your computer in a folder and sync'd that. To delete photos you have to go back to your computer and delete the ones you wanted or designate a different location to get them from (like that special folder), then sync your Touch. I know it is lame but you can't just delete photos like you can delete video.

That helps me alot, but one problem. How do I sync my ipod touch, I cant do it from ITunes :apple: because its not currently active. Please help!

Please don't spam the thread with triple posts. I may not be a high ranked forum guy, but I would like to keep the forums clean and rid of those who are dirtying up the place. Sounds like you're SOL, but can't you just download iTunes onto your computer and boot it up? That's what I would do... of course adding all my music and videos too. :D :apple:

The bit to sync your photos is off by default in iTunes you must have enabled it.

Quickest way to delete your photos.

1) Tell iTunes to no longer sync your pictures (it's a checkmark box once you've clicked the iPod on the left side of iTunes under the pictures tab)

2) Tell iTunes to sync to only a specific directory with your choice of pictures in it.

3) You must have iTunes or another 3rd party media manager but I recommend iTunes to delete pictures, or manage anything iPod related for that mater.

4) You can delete photos you have saved to your iPod touch, they are in a different album called "Saved photos" by clicking the recycling bin icon on the bottom menu when you select one of the pictures. Same goes for pictures you take with the pathetic little camera the iPod 4 gen is sporting.

This is buggin me x

Ok I'm on my iPod touch and I down loaded 3 videos and I want to download mall cop for my mOm and little sister. It says I need to delete some videos or photos and if I deleted videos my mom would go crazy so I deleted all the camera roll images but I don't know how to delete the other album:confused: :apple:X frOm holli Bublè and for all those people that want to knOw the answer. It is yes:eek:

Ok but I know that and to those fans out there my dads name is Michael not mich!!! Love holli Bublè xxx :D

If its like a 3rd party file that is already deleted on your ipod but still shows up on the photos e.g. picasa, first thing you need to do is 1) connect ipod to computer 2) sync ipod caches 3) remove them = pain in the butt but finally figured it out and saved me 1g of space xD.
